#354161 What Is The Point!

Posted by btmaldon on 16 April 2014 - 08:04 AM

I have had a look through your posts and cant see anything negative at all Judi. In fact it appears you have a very unique car due to the colour along with the Mountune upgrade which has attracted more positive comments. People have opinions which you may not like but even then I cant see anything that would upset the most fragile of personalities. Again that is only personal opinion and nothing personal directed at any individual.

I have had a few dissagreements but that is all they were based on people having a difference of opinion. Its what keeps this site alive. You should have a look at the BMW Owners Club site. It is dead in comparison to this place, which is why I spend more time here than I do there despite now owning a Beemer.

That's not great service and it sounds like you have met a right plonker of a so called mechanic. I doubt if it was Ford holding things up, sounds more like the dealership dragging their feet. My local Ford dealer is great. I cant fault them. Its just a shame I no longer have a Ford.

I had the same with a Mk 3 I used to own. It was the boot lid. I adjusted the catch to get rid of the play in it. Took ages to find it was that.

#348356 Thinking Of Getting An 2010 1.6 Mk2.5

I sold my 11 plate Sport with 19k miles on it privately for £8,000. It was to a friend for a quick sale as the dealer price was between £9k and £9.5k and they would only give £6.5k in PX.

I never had an issue with the 100bhp engine. The gearing was just right for motorway driving and accelleration was fine. It took 5 of us fully loaded over the North Devon Hills without having to change down and gave me 45mpg on a run. If you can get a the Sport vesion I would go for that as you get the Titanium interior, Comms Pack which includes SatNav, Voice Control USB , Bluetooth etc, Reversing Aids, Auto Lights and Wipers, the Auto Dimming Mirror and some nice alloys.

Look at it this way, atleast you'll look good!

Seriously though, running cost will be much higher than a focus and rob is bang on, what were you missing from the focus that made you want a bmw?

I get bored with cars fairly quick but the last Focus I had was for three years. I've never had a car that long and fancied a change, especially as the previous car was an 09 Focus. So after 5 years and now car loan free, I feel like a change and having a bit more money in my pocket can run something a bit more expensive.

Fortunately I like a firm ride and this thing isn't that hard that my teeth would fall out. In fact it isn't anywhere as hard as I thought it would be, even with 19 inch wheels.

I would have loved an ST but would cannot afford the new shape. However, I am sure I will be back in a Ford as I always return to them. Probably going to change the wife's car soon and that's likely going to be another Ford anyway.

I don't visit that often and certainly don't read every thread.  But that doesn't invalidate my opinion (or revoke my right to voice an opinion), nor does it mean I'm "rubbing it in" just because somebody else has said it before without my knowledge.

Sorry you took it the wrong way. I wasn't invalidating your point of view, just pointing out the lad has already been on the receiving end of those with the same opinion and is already more than aware. Have a nice day wont you.

#341175 Reverse Sensors..

Posted by btmaldon on 10 March 2014 - 08:37 PM

The Chinese unit I had in my old Focus selected the rear camera automatically when you selected reverse. Chances are this one will as the camera will also be powered from the power to the reverse light, and once the camera switches on it should take over the unit.

I cant see a way of getting the unit to link to reversing sensors though.

I don't have an awful lot of sympathy to be honest. Doing 10mph over the limit is an honest error of judgement. Doing almost two and a half times the speed limit is nothing short of idiotic.

the fact that it was late at night makes no difference. It only takes one other person to be on the road, and that's when crashes happen.

I get sick of reading "oh no i broke the law, please tell me how to get out of punishment" threads on car forums. you were stupid and they caught you being stupid. Take whatever punishment as a lesson. The bigger the better as far as i'm concerned.

Think we have been through this stuff some months ago when the lad first posted what happened. He knows what he did, so there is no point in rubbing it in even more.

#340264 Done My Good Deed This Weekend, What's Yours?

Fixed the son of a friends Clio which had a major misfire. He has only just started driving and as a 6th Form Student with part time work is struggling to meet the cost of running a car. Changed the coil pack leads and plugs and air filter which needed doing. Had to buy a special spark plug tool and modify it to fit but hey. Its running better than ever now.

They look good Dan. I'm surprised what a difference a little bit of plastic makes to the look of the Fez.
