Focus 1.6 Power Steering-Are There Issues With This Model?

23 March 2013 - 10:36 AM

Morning all,

Further to my previous post on a power steering leak-is this common on the 1.6 Focus (55 plate)?

I'm going to have a good look this wekend to try and find where it is leaking from (it's booked into a local garage the week after next-I'm away next week using my other car).

If it is the pipes-where is the cheapest place to buy from?

Regards (yet again!)

Steve

Power Steering Leak

20 March 2013 - 05:51 PM

Hello all,
I have a 2005 focus 1.6. Noticed last week a couple of drips of oil on the floor drivers side. Noisy steering today so checked level and needed topping up. Had. Look at drivers side if engine and can see oil on lower crossmember which looks like Power steering fluid.
I know the pump is on this side but everything is difficult to see.
Any advic on where it is leaking would be mot welcome.
Second problem in three weeks of ownership and only 39000 miles

Steve

Cutting Out Focus

07 March 2013 - 04:47 PM

Hello all,

I have a slight problem with my Focus.

It's a 55 plate 1.6 estate with 39000 miles.

It's recently had a new coil pack and sparkplugs.

Now and again when you start it it cuts out after a second or so. It restarts straight away. It drives perfectly without issue apart from this. Anything to be worried about?

Regards

Steve

I Day Ownership And Engine Misfire

21 February 2013 - 06:51 PM

Evening all,
Bought a 55 plate 1.6 100BHP Focus estate yesterday. 39000 miles. Drove like adream on the test drive and on thge 30 mile trip home yesterday. Wife told me when I got home that it felt like it was missing whilkst driving. I took it out and indeed it is and the engine management light is on. Luckily enough I bought it via my brother in law who is a slesman for ford and he will have them plug it in on saturday.
I'm suspecting a coil pack-but any other guidance would be graetly appreciated.

To say I'm peeved is an understatement.

Regards
Steve
