#295999 Want To Make Smooooth Downshifts On A Manual 'box?

Posted by cuke on 11 October 2013 - 10:46 AM

I really can't see how this method of driving makes it anymore safer and useful in today's driving conditions and seems to me something that 'boyracers' might want to do in their little underpowered Corsa'a. Plus, if you have a decent enough DSG gearbox, you are very unlikely to be able to change gear quicker than they can...

#294068 Rs Is This Official...

Just another photoshop representation from a car magazine. The RS probably will happen at some point but, because the Mk3.5 will be out by then, it'll not look exactly the same...

#293969 Who Will Remap My Mk3 Zetec S

Posted by cuke on 02 October 2013 - 02:10 PM

Hmm I guess I'll have to have a good think about what I want to do then.
Thanks for the help though fellas.

Any of you know how long the warranty is on the rear light units?

Many of us have had remaps, and with the more modern Bosch ecu's as well. To date I have never had one detected by the main dealers, and on one car I never took off the map when it went in for a service either. So I think, unless they get wind of something its well worth the risk.

#285394 Wheel Choice On Titanium Focus 62 Plate?

Posted by cuke on 27 August 2013 - 02:22 PM

Hi, 18" wheels will mean having to have a steering limiter fitted or the tyres will rub, I would say the car would be unroadworthy if you don't. You will also need to tell your insurance company as larger wheels than the car came fitted with constitutes a modification...

#284699 V-Power Nitro+ And Unexpected Side Effect

Posted by cuke on 24 August 2013 - 08:23 AM

Only it depends as too whether supermarket fuel versus this more expensive fuel is actually benefiting engines. Just because the sales pitch says so I do wonder is there really much difference in the blends? Tests on petrol engines have been performed that do suggest this more expensive fuel only benefits more highly tuned engines, which stands to reason...

#284473 V-Power Nitro+ And Unexpected Side Effect

Posted by cuke on 23 August 2013 - 08:46 AM

Begs the question, and I am not trying to contradict what anyone is saying, is the added cost of the fuel, is it 5p a litre, versus the better mpg actually cost effective? And, for truly scientific purposes, this theory that it is 'better' really needs verification on a rolling road under controlled environmental conditions...

Make sure you have that bluefin remap declared then Cuke ;)

Declared to whom, my insurance company already know about it. Besides it is coming off next week...

Thus making the car un-roadworthy and uninsured. Waaay cheaper until you have an accident...

#277702 Gear Change Indicators

Posted by cuke on 26 July 2013 - 03:36 PM

Hi, I'm sure you know that the indicator will change according to the amount of throttle, thus if you are driving the car hard it will know that and the arrow will come on later....

Hi, as I own a 1.6 ecoboost in a similar state of tune 2k is about right when run in. In fact I can trickle my car along at 30mph in 5th with no strain on the engine what so ever, I just change down when coming to a hill. Useful torque comes in at around 1500rpm with these ecoboost engines but just don't let the engine labour when new..

#270055 St3 Headlight Question

You are correct, it is the DRL's that act as the sidelights, they dim when you turn the headlamp switch to that position as per EU regs..

#265609 Ford Options - Gimmicks Vs Essentials

Posted by cuke on 06 June 2013 - 09:57 AM

Not sure if your talking about your sons 197 still, but my Renault locked by double tapping the door handle lock/un lock sensor with my thumb. Either way you shouldn't have to manually lock a hands free entry system.

Hi, of course you can do either. On the subject of this topic, we've just purchased a Titanium X and the only option we needed was the Candy Blue paint...

#258410 Air Conditioning Temp

Posted by cuke on 07 May 2013 - 05:21 PM

Hi, modern A/C or Climate Control do not waste energy by overcooling the air. There is no point in having ice form on your screen because the compressor is running full pelt, sapping the engine of power increasing the emissions from the engine and harming your mpg. Also CC tends to blend the air until the correct cabin temperature is reached therefore it is always better to leave it permanently set to a temp and leave it on auto as constant changes can cause the system to become confused. I always leave mine on auto and set to 20c all summer and winter as then it also gets used all of the time as per Ford's recommendations and prevents the seals from hardening.
