mk4 instrument swap

02 June 2009 - 04:53 PM

hi everyone. my car (1999 mk4 fiesta) was fitted with the digital clocks that appear on the mk5 fiestas. this unit did not have a rev counter therefore i purchased a set of white digital clocks that did.
all went well whilst fitting them but when i gave it a test, the rev counter did not work. (this is the only reason i swapped the clocks in the first place!!)
anyway i know there is power going to the unit because;
1) the clocks work perfectly except for the tachometer
2) when i initially fitted the clocks and powered them up they performed a self test. this showed that the rev counter was functioning as it rose to 8000 rpm then dropped back down.
i can't understand why the rev counter isn't working in my car.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
the old clocks and some other (analogue) white clocks with rev counter are for sale.
pm me if you're interested.
thanks, Tom

mk4 anti roll bar

28 April 2009 - 06:13 PM

hello, i was busy lowering my fiesta today (only 40mm) when i came to the point where the anti roll bar has to be loosened.
it came off fine but then when i put it back on it keeps slipping off. i think the nylon in the shoulder of the ball and socket joint might have worn to the point where it wont stay on.
for future reference was i right to remove the anti roll bar? (not completely just the bottom bit) as this was the only way i would see of getting the suspension arm out.
any ideas? and prices for repair would be great. dont fancy driving it with a loose roll bar.

cheers, Tom

fitting recaro buckets

06 April 2009 - 10:58 PM

hi guys, just bought myself some nice and comfy recaro bucket seats from an escort rs turbo for my fiesta mk4
purley because the fiesta seats are uncomfortable little things!
just wondering whats the easiest way to go about fitting them?
i believe that the subframes off a mk3 fiesta with a 3.5 fitting is the easiest?
and i'm also aware that i cannot simply bolt the new seats onto the old subframes.
any ideas would be great and i'll post some pics up when its done.
cheers, tom.

what did my wheels come off?

16 March 2009 - 01:40 PM

hello again, i picked up my alloys from a scrappy for 80 but ive never seen another ford with them.
the dimensions are 185 60r 13"
i'll include a pic too, only problem i have with them is that i cant find tyres for it!
rare width for such small wheels.
