#302288 Ford Fiesta St-2 Mod Thread...she's Called Felicity!

Posted by welshy_maverick on 04 November 2013 - 11:07 PM

enjoyed reading your thread mate,

now i was just wundering how did u mark out the eyebrows for your head lights?

also what did you have to do to get your rear lights to work with the st?

Thanks!! Appreciate it!! Still a few more bits to do before the end of the year, so keep checking back. As for the eyebrows just
a bit of masking tape first then vinyl along the line then peel the tape off.

The rear lights i took the electrics out of the ST light cluster and retrofitted them into the mk7 led light cluster. Brake light connector fitted straight into the led cluster though, no modification needed.

Hope that helps!! :D

Fiesta ST Update:- Front Numberplate Fixing

So, sice i've owned the car this has annoyed me since the dealership screwed the holes in the numberplate/front bumper in the wrong place. It would be fine though since I replaced the plates they never screwed in again poperly as there is nothing to support the on the other side of the bumper. Sticky pads didnt work for me as the bumper is curved and the screw kept popping out...

Unfortunately to get a nut on the back of that nylon screw meant either taking the grille off or the whole front end. The grille however does not pop out easily like on my old MK7 ZS...so whole front end it was...

Eventually managed to get a nut tightened on the back of each numberplate screw so now they are pulled in and nice and secure...

A big job (2.5hours) for something very small that most people wont notice but always annoyed me. At least I've had practice taking the whole front end off for when I eventually get a new untercooler!!

Fiesta ST Update : I decided to do an economy run through my local town centre to see what Felicity could do. With the stop start driving, traffic lights, pedestrians etc plus a bit of good fortune a few times where I didn't have to brake and stop etc and she managed an average of 47.6mpg! Not too bad considering she has only done 680miles. Quite happy with that and hopefully she will do even better once there are a few thousand miles on the clock!!  :D

Im not so sure as I know of a few people who have Subaru imprezzas with xenons as standard but they don't have washer jets.

To pass the mot they have had to install washers for them. This is as recent as a couple of weeks ago. In N.I. though,we have to go to a test center instead of a garage.

Still raises questions to the legality of them if an accident were to occur.

Ive just had clarfication from someone in the know, If a car is brand new and the factory is fitting them with HID's they must now fit auto levellers and washer jets AND they must both be fully fuctional to make it legal and pass and MOT. HOWEVER if the car is new/old and does not have them as a factory fit and they are added later they DO NOT require washer jets/auto levellers but the beam pattern must stil be correct...only way to do that is with projector headlights that are correctly aligned. It is that simple!! Same as DRL's new cars that are not fitted with them but you can retro fit to old cars as long as you follow the correct guidelines (the turn on with the engine, not a seperate switch etc). Thats why my insurance were happy for me to add them to my poiicy yesterday as they are legal to retro fit to a vehicle without levellers/washer jets its my responsibility to get them aligned in the projector housings correctly!!

Yep agreed! A little bit of petrol or at least some alcohol cleaner, use that when applying all of the graphics on my car.
