Passenger Dipped Bulb Blown
18 April 2013 - 01:57 PM
changed it this morning took a whooping 20 mins mainly the fiddling with the spring clip. One cut from taking the electrical connector off and my hand just bashed the side tray of the battery tray oops.
very fiddly. but managed to do with only taking the battery cover off.
I only changed it about a year ago and did not touch the glass.
I bet the drivers side goes now lol .. although space is plentiful there.
once you figure the clip out, its ok.
my top is use a mirror or look at drivers side.
Failed Mot Brake Hose Burst
16 April 2013 - 11:13 AM
Said he had never seem a problem like this. He said its lucky it happened here and not on an emergency stop.
Sadly I couldn't drive the car away and had to leave it with them to fix. £36 one new hose I'm having both done and £42 labour and bleeding.
Other than that passed on everything else with one advisories on a bit of corrosion on front springs.
Interestingly last year they advised me my rear control arm bushes were shot which they are but have said nothing about it this time. I will be getting them done soon.
Never heard of a brake hose bursting on and mot ?
He did said when he checked they hoses there was not bulging when the brake pedal was pressed with the stopper. Just a little worn but not excessive.
I hate mot time but on what he says and shows me this is a good thing and a lucky near tradegy.
Odometer Flickering
15 April 2013 - 10:38 PM
I have sat there switched everything on and off hoping it will stop but no its still flickering ?
Surely this will drain the battery by morning, doh knew I should have stumped up for home start.
any idea what's causing this and how to fix it ?
Worst time for a fault its going in for its mot at 9 providing it will start
as always your help is greatly received
Pcv Valve And Hose ? Pic Included
10 April 2013 - 10:49 AM

Finally getting round to changing this as I was advised it should be changed as a matter of course.
I'm just trying to figure out which bits I need ? (as I'm not sure which hose usually collapses)
The valve just pull out along with the hose ? and then you just replace.
thanks
Thermostat Change
08 April 2013 - 05:48 PM
Hey up all ![]()
Trying to help a friend change his stat on a 2004 1.8 petrol focus
.. heres a pic of whats we are faced with:
Now is it just a case of draining the system from the bottom of rad, removing that small/skinny top hose and undoing the three torx screws pull it away from the main housing, take out the stat, replace and doing it all back up ?
The ford parts guy said I should change the entire housing, at a cost of £139 vs the £18 for the stat and seal. He reckon it will not screw back together again due to the warping of the plastic of the stat housing cover which sounds about right but its a lot of money and I think its worth a shot without the entire kit. Poor design I guess.
What do you think about his thoughts ?
Also does my process sound about right to just change the stat ?
thanks
