#300916 Head Unit Fitting Help On Double Din Stereos

Posted by salsheikh on 30 October 2013 - 04:59 PM

Well its only taken me 2 days but I have finally fitted the stereo. I found the aftermarket kit to have 2 different brackets which helped as one is adjustable. The main problem was the trim provided didnt allow the stereo trim to sit far back enough for the stereo to slot into the cage so out came the dremel. I had to trim all 4 sides to allow the hu to fit.

Next on the list is to fit 0awg cable and make a custom amp mount in the boot. Ive got an idea on how it will go but will probably need all weekend to do it as things never go to plan.....unlike the A-Team

How did you bypass the handbrake link? Did you earth the wire?

standard cage is no good as there is a massive void between the hu cage and the actual space given. Even the replacement cage used for fitting is too small so gonna make an mdf frame with holesto fill out the gap and give the cage something to hold onto.

has anyone bypassed the handbrake cable method? do you earth it or use this gizmo:

I did get the fiting kit with all the bits off ebay but the cage fiting is really bad, poorly designed and doesnt seem fit for purpose

How the hell do you get the cage and hu to sit in the right place as its either too low or too high or at the wrong angle. Plus the cage dont seem to fit securely enough. Shame theres no centre locating pin on the pioneer hu to help. Any ideas? ?

guys,

im selling my oval Ford DAB unit (see classifieds) and am replacing it with a Pioneer AVH-X3500DAB unit which is a double din unit. Do i need anything for this to fit into my car other than the fascia?

will the cage be enough to hold it in securely or do i need to visit my Ford dealer for anything?

#298874 1.8 Tdci Running On Added 2 Stroke?

Posted by salsheikh on 23 October 2013 - 12:40 PM

i've been regularly adding 2 stroke to my 1.8 tdci for around a year now and have not noticed anything bad. i do feel that the engine is quieter on start up and have not had to top up my oil either.

adding more than 200 ml has not made any difference in my opinion.

i use 2 stroke castrol - tesco's had it on offer at 99p for a 1ltr bottle so bought the lot - (only 6 bottles available)

go on shove a banana in his tail pipe or even a potato but stand well back in case it shoots out! very annoying this sort of thing. i've had it happen to me in an asda carpark so i left a note - stuck to the windscreen giving my extreme annoyance.

i see people with a mobile in the hand all the time whilst driving, really makes me angry. just wish i could sit with a HD camera, records them all and send it to the police to get them prosecuted but i know it doesnt work like that. same with people cutting me up on roundabouts and dual caraigways - you can see it happening and then they do it. its a daily occurence and there's never a copper around to see it. one time there was the cops didnt do nothing, i was livid.

i think autocar/autoexpress or someone did a photoshop like that. it does look good but from what i remember the RS is gonna be a 5 door car.

i just hope that its mental - wide flared arches, 4WD, 350+ BHP (twin turbo) has to be minimum - more importantly it needs parts that can fit other focus models so we can upgrade our cars...

Hi Gary,

only reason i said get brake cleaner was that different chemicals react i different ways and I wouldnt want to see you get hurt. I've heard lots of stories where a different product ws used and due to heat/circumstances the person has ended up in hospital with burns or breathing difficulties. Always play it safe.
