#380193 Mk3.5 Focus St

Posted by jimrex on 29 June 2014 - 10:10 PM

Really liking the look of it, especially that grey!

What do you guys think of the introduction of a diesel? I know it's a controversial choice by Ford, but for someone like me with a daily 75 mile round trip commute, it makes ST ownership possible ;)

#368512 Black Panther Or Deep Impact Blue

Posted by jimrex on 27 May 2014 - 06:39 PM

I'm a big fan of Ford's Panther Black, it's got a nice gold fleck in the paint which sets it off on a sunny day. I've had two Fords in this colour so far and yes, it is a pain to keep clean, but worth the effort!

Having said that, I have noticed a few Deep Impact Blue cars about recently and if I did purchase a new Ford now, I might be tempted to stray over to blue!

#335841 2015 Focus Facelift (Mk 3.5) Unveiled

Posted by jimrex on 24 February 2014 - 07:58 PM

It certainly looks a lot tidier at the front and back, it's grown on me quite a bit over the course of today! I also like the look of the upgraded interior, plus the availability of a big touch screen now. Can't wait to see if they unveil a Zetec S version, I think that front end would look pretty mean with some well placed skirts. That Deep Impact Blue is a brilliant colour as well.

I work in the automotive press & PR business, and have read an official industry release this morning. Summarised as follows:

  • Design: Sleek, emotional new design with bold new face of Ford and a beautifully crafted cockpit-like interior. Slimmer, more chiselled front headlamps and more rectangular fog lamps add to the bolder front end. subtle chrome details add to the feeling of elegance while the rrear of the car also is sleeker with a new fascia and tailgate arrangment, as well as thinner tail lamps. The interior will feature a more intuitive layout, complemented by a steering wheel and centre stack with fewer buttons. The new centre console offers more space as well as a new, sliding intergrated armrest. The new adjustable console accomodates a variety of bottles and cups. New Focus also enjoys a quieter ride, achieved by thicker carpets, thicker window glass and improved engine bay insulation.

  • Touch screen control with SYNC 2: The new Focus will be the first vehicle in Europe to offer SYNC 2. This features a high-resolution, 8-inch colour touch screen and advanced voice control for easier access to audio, navigation, climate control and compatible mobile phones.  It will offer a split screen display with 3D highway juntion and landmark views and a Michelin guide. Simply pushing the voice control button and saying "I'm hungry" will bring up a list of local restaurants, which you can then get directions to.

  • Advanced driving technology: Engineers have developed a more solid, responsive and connected to the road feel by increasing structural stiffness at the front, retuning shock-absorbers and incorporating a new ESP system. The Electronic Power Assisted Steering has also been retuned to make the driver feel even more connected. The new Focus is the first Ford to offer Perpendicular Parking, a new hands-free parking technology that helps drivers reverse into spaces alongside other cars. Cross Traffic Alert warns drivers reversing out of a parking space of approaching vehicles, while Park-Out Assist helps drivers by operating the steering wheel when pulling out of a parallel parking space. Active City Stop has also been enhanced to operate at speeds up to 50 km/h. A Pre-Collision Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control system also help drivers to remain safe at motorway speeds, while Ford's MyKey Technology will feature on the Focus for the first time.

  • Lighting the way: Improved Adaptive Front Lighting now adjusts the beams of the new Bi-Xenon HID headlamps to best suit the road layout. The system assesses the ambient light surrounding the vehicle, as well as objects in the road ahead anf adjusts the beam angle and intensity depending on speed, steering angle and distance to objects. Door edge protectors will also remain.

  • Fuel efficient engines: The new Focus offers significantly improved fuel efficiency thanks to new powertrain options. The Focus debut the new fuel efficient 1.5 litre Ecoboost (150PS and 180PS) petrol engine and also the new 1.5 TDCi (95PS and 120PS). The Focus will continue to be offered with the current 1.0 Ecoboost in both 100PS and 125PS variants. There will also be a new 99g/km CO2 1.0 litre Ecoboost, the first non-hybrid petrol car in Europe to offer sub-100g/km CO2 emissions.

** New Ford Focus provisional powertrain line-up in the UK:

    1.0L EcoBoost petrol 100 PS five-speed manual

While specs haven't been released, I have seen speculation that Edge, Zetec and Titanium will remain.

Hope that provides a bit of useful info, was certainly interesting reading this morning :P

#330845 2012 Ford Focus Parking Sensors

Posted by jimrex on 09 February 2014 - 02:22 PM

Best thing would be to phone up a couple of dealers in your area and get some quotes. I know that TC Harrison had a promotion on a while back for parking sensors, and they will all charge different rates for labour etc

#328625 Does My Car Have An Alarm?

Posted by jimrex on 02 February 2014 - 11:44 PM

You can also leave a window open, lock the car and stick your arm in after a few seconds, provided of course that it has the interior scan function. ETIS might be a good place to check too.

I had a Ford alarm installed on my old fiesta with interior scan by the dealer for about 200, was worth it for peace of mind!

#295606 Range Rover Driver Fears For His Life

How it all started appears largely in question, and I won't comment on that without knowing the full story - but what struck me is the solidarity of the bikers! You don't see such a thing with car drivers as we all plod along in our own metal boxes!

Turned up at work this morning and everyone I spoke to was like "Oh, someone's caught the sun!".

Been to FF two years on the trot now and both have been glorious weather!

On speaking with Mark/Steve/Nathan yesterday, I reckon we should drum up some interest for next year to try and make it the best yet. Think about it, potentially everyone who was there can join this forum: it's a welcome environment for Fords both old or new, standard or modified etc. It's the one opportunity in the year for a large meet for all members :)

Really enjoyable day out, was great meeting you all and the cars!

Let's make Ford Fair 2014 the biggest and best FOC stand ever ;)

#281155 Foc Official Corsa Bashing Thread

Posted by jimrex on 09 August 2013 - 06:57 PM

The interiors seem to smell funny too. I thought it was just my friends one when she got hers, but I walked past one parked up the other day with the window down and that had the same stench!

And I dont think it's because of bad deodorant/hygiene issues with the drivers...

I've noticed that as well! Must be the cheap plastics or adhesive used to slap the blasted things together

I know your pain there - my sister got one as her first car despite my pleading to get a Fiesta... then three years later, instead of listening to my advice and getting a brand new MK7.5 Fiesta (which I even had priced up for her), she went and got another bloomin C**sa!

Some people are just beyond help :P

#280472 Are You Ready For Ford Fair?.....

Posted by jimrex on 06 August 2013 - 06:27 PM

Will be good to see the cars in the metal and meet everyone! Anyone know if there is a good mix of different Fords and models on stand or a heavy Fiesta/Focus bias?
