#317324 Hobbies And Intrest's

Posted by b1g_dav3 on 03 January 2014 - 01:02 AM

They broke in the front door, and whenever she hears the door she runs to the porch door (which is also locked as we've had people try to break in before) and sits on the shelf that is level with the glass at the side of the porch, and she's over twice the size of a large house cat, and she jumped at the glass and the pair of plonks couldn't get away quick enough, one of which fell flat on their face over the step out of the doorway.

Got back and she seemed very proud of herself, all caught on camera and sent to the police :P shame there wasn't any audio, that'd have been priceless to hear.

Cats usually are the boss, they have claws :P

My collie would kill your serval.

It would choke while eating him :P

Not sure, Serval's are statistically the best hunter's of all mammals I believe :P

She just goes into a strop and hides away at the top of the shelf when there's a dog in the house for a visit >_>

Someone tried braking in the house before Christmas and she saved the day, so I have to keep her happy for that :P

I want a collie, but my cat disagrees with the idea of dogs :c

#317247 Finally Uk Seller H15 Upgrades!

Posted by b1g_dav3 on 02 January 2014 - 10:56 PM

The only trouble is I'd want to go for the 20/60W bulbs with tints on them instead of the 12/55W, might not light the unit up so well. I'm wondering if an HID upgrade would be worth it as they use a little halogen for the DRL, that may be replaceable with an LED with a little tweaking.

Been thinking of the original Boss hood design but not sure it'll work with the Fiesta's bonnet shape, it'll look like those terrible 'Euro look' cars from a year or so back instead >_>

#317107 Mk 7.5 Lights

Posted by b1g_dav3 on 02 January 2014 - 06:39 PM

I have 6000K HID's matched with CREE sidelights and fog lights and they're pretty perfect. The sidelights are stupidly bright and the crisp white that just looks great. If you want to be legal, OSRAM cool blue intense are about the pick for dipped beams.

#316569 What Have You Bought Your Ford For Christmas

Posted by b1g_dav3 on 31 December 2013 - 08:54 PM

My lil' Fiesta got a new heater thermostat housing... Great time of year for the heating to pack up, eh?

:-D

In the New Year, I'll be getting her a PROPER spare wheel kit as opposed to the ruddy useless inflator kit that Ford snuck into the spare wheel well.

;-)

I was told never to use these things, they're a pain for the tyre place and corrode the alloys.

#316568 Best Modification You Done In 2013

Not really done too much yet, most of my stuff is sat in the garage. Sent my turbo off last week to be tweaked though for the ST :P

One thing I do like about JDM imports are the badges in Japanese on the interior (seatbelt light for example), was almost tempted to pick up a Supra before Christmas, but I'm scared by parts availability in the UK, America has it so much better >.<

#314847 Need Some Ideas And Opinions For My Mk7 Fiesta

Posted by b1g_dav3 on 25 December 2013 - 04:16 PM

Dump valve I'm unsure on, yeah it can be done with ease just not sure what it'd achieve, though you'd get a sound from it as the stock one does with an air intake upgrade.

Short shifter is worth paying Mountune a visit: http://www.mountuneu...gory-s/1819.htm (this is on the US store, just easy to see all of the options on the US page)

I wouldn't recommend both the arm and the shifter unless you're used to a short throw, and I mean this; it gives it literal race-car shifting and isn't all that nice in stop start unless you're used to them; the arm on it's own for the ST makes a really nice difference so the arm on it's own is nice, but I'd say due to price especially the shifter is better on their own.

By front lights I take it you mean sidelights? I have some similar to these and they're incredibly bright: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item53fb503f8c

You can get ones with SMD chips on them too, but I prefer the non-SMD ones for the clean look up close and the light they give out, the SMD's will light up the whole unit a lot more though and I am considering them myself. The one's in the link won't fit, you need them to be no more than 12mm, but I can't find those with the limited time I have between cooking and eating :P

As for fog lights, I have these: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item27dbb21423

There's as high as 80W now at £45 and 50W for £40 (search cree H11 in eBay) but these are rather expensive I feel, but have tickled my fancy.

Also spotted these that look rather beastly... http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f2e03962c

For headlights, your best legal bet's are Phillips or Osram bulbs, there's tons of posts on here about them and such. Non legal routes are HID bulbs, the kit I have is here: http://www.hids-dire...ersion-35w-kit/

Not really legal though but I've had no issues, I can't recommend them as they're not legal but the choice is yours, they're brighter and at 6000K will match all the other bulbs. 35W is similar to 55W halogen units (they are brighter though, just not by tons), 55W HID's are a good deal more powerful, but will burn out quicker and can dazzle in reflections such as the back of other vehicles or wet floors.

I wouldn't cheap out on bulbs, they can make a car look really good or cheap and tacky. The cheap SMD one's are good for registration plate lights though, or you can get ones that replace the bulb holder entirely with an LED strip in, but tend to cost a little. The T10 CREE's also fit in the reversing lights which provide a lot of extra power, and again there are HID options, but they're massively overkill. Do not use HID's in the sidelights, they're very blinding up close to other drivers.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the lighting on the bottom of the door, but strips are cheap enough and if it's what you want then nobody should put you off if it's what you want! I've broken a few Fiesta's and they're pretty easy to get the cards off. No idea if there's a wire in the door you can get the power off as I'm not an electrics person but I can't imagine it being a major pain in the behind.

Dual exhaust is easy, either go to an exhaust garage or here:

Option 1: http://www.pumaspeed...Milltek_916.jsp

Option 2: http://www.pumaspeed...Valance_929.jsp

Option 3: http://www.pumaspeed...lance_15634.jsp

Option 1 is just the exhaust where you'd need to cut away some of the rear to get it in, option 2 comes with a Focus RS style valance, and option 3 is the same just with a manifold-back exhaust rather than cat-back.

Asian Grill's are what you'll have seen with the inserts and most likely iNath's with white inserts, they come with silver inserts but can be painted, I had one on my Mk7 and it really did look good, and is still sat in my garage after taking it off before sale :P they're an exact swap, and run from about £80 - 150 new.

However there's one on fleabay now at £55+12 postage which is good http://www.ebay.co.u...=item27dbc45b35

Alloys are hugely dependant on taste and what look you fancy, but here's a decent place to look, pretty good company and a good search engine: http://www.wheelbasealloys.com/

You can go as high as 18 inch on a Fiesta and still have normal tyre sizes, but it won't be a great ride. 17 is the most I'd put on really. You can just buy the alloys and have the tyres swapped over too if you want to save a little and you're getting the same size wheels. Or, get winter tyres on the new ones and then you have 2 sets of tyres for all year - just a thought :P

Lowering wise, there's springs or coilovers at your disposal so it depends; springs generally are between £90 and £150, with coilovers starting around £450 I think (don't quote me on it though). I had coilovers on my previous Fiesta and they were pretty good, with the winter we had last year it was handy to crank the height up for clearance, but unless you like to fiddle and play, springs are probably best. Plus height adjustable ones, with camber settings and so on you're looking at £700 - £1,000 which is quite a lot.

Tints - I wouldn't bother with the front, back I'd go for what you feel really, but bare in mind limo black is pretty much like driving a van, and you'll get no light through them at night whatsoever. If you're happy with that then fair enough, just something to keep in mind. May be worth having a nosey at someone with limo tints to see what you think if you can.

Tinting is easy enough, either take it to a tinting place, get spray on tint (if you're good at it only!) or something called fly-eyes, which is a plastic film that has small holes cut into it to let the light through. Find it all here: http://www.flyeyeskit.co.uk/

Caliper painting is easy enough, I use Hammerite paint because there's tons of it around the garage, but there's a lot of caliper paining kits out there. Really easy to do.

Hopefully that'll help you out :P

#313580 Police Advice Needed !!!!

I got pulled tonight for doing 31 in a 30 zone... I actually couldn't believe it, it was genuinely hard to be polite and keep a straight face... needless to say I've recorded everything and will be making my thoughts known tomorrow.

DO NOT USE CONFUSED.COM

Insurers can see you've searched for mods and think you'll be higher risk or not declare mods you've already put on. My friend had this problem with 4 different insurers.
