Cmax 2004 2L Tdci Timing Belt Oe Serial Number?

06 January 2013 - 07:26 PM

Hi all,

I bought a 2L TDCI cmax last year and love it apart from the EGR issue which I've now resolved. It's low miles so I wonder if the timing belt has been done or not, anyone know what the oe serial number on a 2004 2L tdci should be?

Mine belt says 96506960.90 6pk1217 but I think it's an aftermarket model and since the car has fsh but not receipts, guessing it's been done.

Cmax 2004 2L Tdci Egr Problem

24 June 2012 - 09:12 AM

I know this is a well known issue for the earl focus cmax diesel models but not really found a decent fix for it, I've got the dreaded EGR valve sticking at times you really dont want it to (pulling away at junctions) and only had the car two months....any idea best fix for this without costing the earth? I think there's three options but which is best and most cost effective?

1, replace egr valve with new but believe ecu needs update because valve changed?
2, Try a egr blanking plate? loads listed but anyone tried one? Makes sense as wont matter if egr stuck and ecu will still read as working.
3, Aftermarket egr valve or have ecu reprogrammed, anyone tried this?

Ford Cmax 2004 Tdci 2L Hestiation Problem

28 May 2012 - 12:09 PM

Hi all,

I've recent;y picked up a low miles 2004 CMax TDCI (euro3) and she's seemed fine but the air con doesn't work - yet to be investigated as to why but think there's a leak...anyway, issue came about at the weekend when I was in Birmingham...crossing a junction and the car died on power...didn't cut out completely but ran like almost had no fuel...few attempts to get it going and that worked, pulled away again like normal after about 45 seconds...

Didn't see anything on the dash for errors, any ideas what might be? Was they a recall for this type of iussue?

Possible Air Con Problem

25 May 2012 - 08:25 AM

Hi all,

I've recently bought a Ford CMAX 2L TDCI and I've noticed the air con hardly seems to do a thing so decided to get refil can, during the filling the I could hear the clutch engaging etc but not sure if I could hear it before that...anyway...After filling half the can, ac seemed better and could hear the clutch working all the time. Left it overnight, decided to check in the morning, put the can on the low pressure side and found no pressure in the system so gave it couple of more squirts. went out for the day and noticed ac doesn't seem to cool at all again, just fans running and couldn't hear clutch. If checking the low pressure side after refil, and it's pressure is zero, does that mean I have a leak?

What's best way to test this properly and what kit might you need?
