Agree with Mark above also re the inlet manifold cleaning whilst at the EGR...pretty sure it's included in the wiki as well.

Using the Royal Mail Price Finder tool online it's looking like postage is gonna be £16.40 (Large Parcel up to 10kg using Parcel Force Express48).

The box seems to weight just over 5kg, if they weigh it at the P.O. as less than 5kg it'll cost £12.98. That all sound ok?

I'll fire you a Private Message now sure to exhange details and can get it away today. Will have another look for any spare bulbs I might have too...

Right Cameron, here's what I have...basically everything you need apart from a couple of indicator bulbs. I had chrome silvatec ones fitted and moved them to the new lights, so can't seem to find the amber ones. I'll have another hoke around and if they show up I'll fire them in too.

Only after postage pal, they're no use to me and I've been well treated on here in the past so happy to pass a favour on to help out another user. No idea how much that would be though, the box is a right size. I'll take them round the PO in the morn and find out sure and let you know.

#447681 Focus St Radio Wiring Help?

Posted by gforce on 23 January 2015 - 02:38 PM

Only way to find out about the wiring is to pull out the stereo and look.

In normal cases, the standard loom would be left fully intact and an adapter harness used to convert the standard car loom plug to the aftermarket headunit plug.  If this is the case, then it will be just a case of removing the headunit and adapter and fitting a genuine Ford unit, plug and play.

The other possibility is if the person who installed it either didn't have the adapter harness or else decided they didn't need one and decided to butcher the car loom and hardwire in the new system. This is probably unlikely, but we can't be sure until you check for yourself.

As said, if everything is intact, get a Ford radio and it's plug and play.

What I would strongly recommend though is getting the Sony version over the Ford CD6000 one, like this for example... http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3aa0660a4b

And just to confirm, it's a rounded edge aftermarket unit fitted yeah? Because I believe your dad's 57 plate pre-facelift would have the earlier rectangular style stereo fitted from factory. If you bought one of these and an original fascia you'll prob get the OEM bluetooth functionality back too if you have the module behind the glovebox.

Single disc that can read discs with MP-3 tracks... http://www.ebay.co.u...=item35e39f5a8b

In-built 6 disc changer... http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3aa001c4ee

PS Any links I've included here are just for example only, they're the first ones I found on the bay so just make sure you check for best prices, fully functioning, code provided etc etc before buying anything!

That's it aye, dead easy, straight swap.

I know I have the lights in a box, and pretty sure I have the bulbs and holders in a bag in the shed, so I'll dig those out tonight and post a pic to make sure everything is there.

By the way, in the pics you posted above, are those little green bullet connectors in the wiring between the car loom and the aftermarket light units? Have you checked to make sure they're all still connected and there are no breaks anywhere in the wiring? There might even be a bit of corrosion on the little connectors so might be an idea to check those and give them a clean or rub down with a bit of sandpaper or somethin in case it's just a bad connection that has stopped your light working.

Sorry cammy, workin away from home at the minute so didn't get a chance to reply last night.

But that pic is spot on, your looms are fully intact (as those after market LEDs are plug and play) so I have what you need. See the pic below of the standard loom set up which I took when I was upgrading my rear lights...

As you can see, the black plugs on your loom which you still have intact plug directly into the bulb holder, which in turn twists into the standard light units. When I was doing my mod, I cut the looms before the bulb holder, so I have a complete set of standard rear lights with bulb holders (might even still have bulbs in them but not 100% sure if they're workin) which are no use to me so you're welcome to them.

Also, Charlie (username Brigante on here) had those aftermarket LED units fitted if I remember correctly, so he might be well placed to tell you exactly at what point along the loom the 'plug and play' part is, ie either at the light/bulb itself or further down the loom at the grey plug.

You're grand Kiefer, I suppose when we here about LED tail lights on here we automatically think about the genuine Ford ones, so easy point of confusion. I'd say it'll be much clearer once Cameron gets some pics up.

As I said Cameron, you're welcome to these standard lights if they'd work out as an easy fix for you!

Hang on here...when you refer to LED units in your original post, you have included a pic of aftermarket lights, such as these...

These come as a straight plug and play replacement for your standard lights, which if your profile is correct and your car is a 2006, will be the red Mk2 lights, not the clear Mk2.5 lights.

I changed my red Mk2 lights for clear Mk2.5 lights and have the red ones sitting in a box somewhere, along with any bulb holders which I had to cut during the mod. You're welcome to them if you're able to help with the postage?

Very nice!

An ST spoiler, de-badge the 'FOCUS' lettering from the tailgate, and a fit a right-hand drive reverse light would finish that rear end off nicely I reckon!

Ok, thanks, this is sounding not so daunting anymore lol yea Tullyally, nice young chap down there stood in the pouring rain with me while we decided which pieces I needed!

Do you know Tullyally breakers ?

So if the extra black is just an earth, what should I do with it ?

The extra earth shouldn't be needed as the bulb holders are earthed in the new loom, so I'd say just forget about it. Are you cutting the car's loom and gonna join the wires end to end, or just gonna splice/scotch-lock into it?

Have used Tullyally a good few times aye, they're just useless over the phone and of course haven't embraced online tecnology yet. It's half an hour away for me, so would rather check if they have somethin in the yard before travellin..."should do aye, you'll need to come down and look yourself just"

I like heading in myself and being left to it, they don't normally like cutting looms and plugs though, I remember taking a rear interior light out of a Focus to put in my old Mondeo, never let on I wanted the plugs and a length of wire to go with it though, so only mentioned it when I was back at the desk to pay. Deed was done at that stage so they didn't give off too much...I just pleaded ignorance. Have got wee bits and pieces too before that they didn't even charge for, "just throw whatever you think they're worth in the box". If you're in again, keep an eye out for any Mondeo STs for me!

Your plan sounds spot on to me. I know what you're sayin...it's one thing havin somethin clear in your own head, tryin to explain it in writing can be another story!

The extra black wire I believe is just an earth anyway...

If you look at your exisitng wiring, in the two separate plugs there's a total of five wires...3 going to the stop/tail bulb (2 lives, one for each filament, and a shared earth) and 2 to the indicator (a live and an earth). This is where my notes from my upgrade would have come in handy with the wiring colours!

Then, if you look at the Mk2.5 loom, where the wiring is merged before the plug, you can see a black wire joining the two bulb holders, this is their shared/common earth, rather than having a separate one each, so I think your plan should work spot on.

Sorry I must have missed your earlier post where you said you'd got hold of a plug from a breakers...is it Tullyally you use?

#417743 "taking Oval To Blue Horizon" Lenny's Build Thread 2010-2015

I am interested in your statement: "Fitted 12V socket in boot, the loom is already there in all spec focus 05-11 just require the 12v socket and an earth feed."

I have an 08 and looking to do the same.  Could you advise what and how please?  Extra fuses or trailing cables willy-nilly required?  (I ask because your photo pointing at an orange block connector is a little bit confusing to me)

Have you seen the full guide created by Lenny? Should have everything you need there - link below...

If you go to his profile page you'll get a whole list of the detailed guides he's created along the way of doing each/most of the mods that you see in this build thread - link below...

Get those headlights de-tango'd and blackeye'd mate, will finish off that frond end perfectly! Grilles and fog surrounds sprayed a matching black might complete the colour scheme. And you ever think about doing the centre bottom lip in black too? Either wrapped or sprayed.

Loving the progress, giving me ideas!

You got a link for those repeaters by the way? Have seen a few on the bay but worried they'll either not be dark enough or else be a poor fit, so would ideally like to get ones that I know will be good!
