In Topic: Stupid Oil Change Questions.

Probably just over an hour in total. I was taking it slowly trying to make sure I did everything right. I left it draining for a good 15-20 minutes, the majority flowed out in less than a minute, but then there was a slow trickle and then dripping for ages. It was a bit of a struggle getting the filter off, it's not in the most accessable of places, but eventually I managed to get it to turn using all my force! (I'm not very strong). I quite enjoyed doing it actually, it's a nice feeling to know that you've done it yourself. I'm looking forward to doing it again next year, lol.

Thanks for all your help guys, I did it on saturday and everything went well. I actually work for a ford main dealer (in the office, don't know much about cars) so I got all the parts inc oil from here so they certainly should be the correct stuff.

Thanks for all the responses guys, and especially to FOCA for that epic answer! they've been very helpful.

I will take the cap off and I think i'll fill up with most of the oil while still on the ramp then reverse off and top up as neccessary as BigD suggested. I tried to buy a new washer, but I had to buy the bolt as well as they don't sell them seperate! Cost 7 quid! :-O but I got it anyway, better to be safe than sorry I suppose.

Thanks for the replies. I've got it changed now and it only cost me £140! I actually work for a Ford main dealer and even with my staff discount it would have cost me nearly double that.
