Hi there i have a 2001 mk3 mondeo 1.8 duratec petrol.just gone in for mot and hc abit high infact a fail.now ive tried redex and engine flushes but still high,but how ever when i took off the air pipe from the airbox to throttle body it passes emissions no probthis car hasnt a maf fitted either has had new airfilter fuel filter has any1 any ideas regards pete

Tailgate Lock Problems Mk3

i have a mk3 mondeo and have a problem with the tailgate lock not working on dash switch or boot mmicro switch.works off keyfob ok but nothing else.i changed micro switch dash switch and worked ok on micro switch but soon as i pressed dash switch it stopped working any1 any ideas of a sollution regards pete

Hi guys need help on this little job brought my beloved mondeo :wub: a while back and the tailgate didnt open off micro switch or boot button inside car. Recently went scrappy got micro switch fitted it and hey worked again pressed boot button inside car worked,thought sweet all ok :rolleyes: . used micro switch on boot no work again or off boot switch.checked fuses everythink ok even works off remote key fob i know its diff system when works off key fob and key but doing me head in everytime i want sumthink out me boot without turning off ignition and hitting the button :o .
Now have i missed sumthink or do i change boot button inside car and micro switch on boot again.

Duratec 1.8 To 2Ltr Engine Swop Pre-Facelift

Now this is an important answer to those asking the question 'can you swap a 1.8 duratec with a 2,0 ?' Yes, it went straight in, didn't swap the fuel rail or anything,just ran it straight off the 1.8 ECU and once warm, it ticked over at 900rpm.
Just like to post this some might find useful :rolleyes:

Duratec Smoke

Hi ive got a 2001 mondeo petrol duratec good compression but uses oil more noticable when driving car down a hill whilst foot off throttle and then when u hit throttle a puff of smoke out the back but then clears..spark plugs are ok not oily,ive been told poss valve stem seals gone but if replaced they tend to smoke more after is this true or is it worth forking out to get done and what about valve guides??
