#281755 St Xenon Headlight Advice

Posted by Andy H Dibley on 12 August 2013 - 10:44 AM

Personally, don't go for the HID kit option if you're keeping your regular headlights. It's a terrible compromise and illegal. It won't make your car uninsured but most definitely liable to getting a tug and a lot of flashes to remind you of how much you're blinding other people!

The Xenon head lamps are projector lenses that reject upward light into on coming cars. Because a halogen bulb isn't anywhere near as bright a bog standard reflector head light doesn't cause too much grief to on coming cars. Stick a HID kit in and you'll soon be blinding lots of people.

I've been there, done it, had the tug, not worth the agro!

Get the proper lenses, at that price I would bite their hands off for them!

#269378 Decent Wiper Blades

Get onto www.wiperblades.co.uk - use their online comparison thing and get some aeroblades or which ever variety of the flat wiper blades.

As your car has the old hook style attachment, you'll be looking at purchasing ones that have an adaptor on them, all this does is sometimes raise the air up by about half an inch. That will be the only difference from stock, however the clean and wipe will be much better for much longer.

Will be second years this year, as a club though we definitely need to be a bit more sociable though!

One thing I think needs organising is some sort of BBQ or table and chairs thing. We were off to one side and had a massive piece of grass land behind the stand. Also perhaps setting up the stand a bit better?

All the same, was good fun and ended up meeting people I wouldn't have before as well as getting ideas I didn't have before!

I might be talking out of my backside, but is there not some aerodynamic benefit to this panel?

Not really, what you might be thinking of is the same panels that racing cars have fitted. These panels are there to speed up the air flow under the car, from the splitter at the front to the defuser at the back. It makes the car like a reverse airplane wing and offers down force.

For this to work though the car needs to have an almost uninterrupted flat surface from front to rear and needs to be travelling at fair old speeds. Somewhere in excess of highest speed limit for it to be of any use.

Lost my under tray when I hit a deer just before Christmas, first car I've owned that's had one. They mainly provide protection from gravel roads and splash protection from big puddles. Been driving without one for 6 months, no issues yet. First car I've had with one tbh.

The only bit that is semi important is the air dam either side of the from AC condenser, that kinda focuses air onto it. Not a huge pain if its not there, just handy.

Hey Lenny,

Thinking of getting some 18" RS wheels, I know I'll look a complete div with them on my stock Zetec, but adding the 18" wheels with possible lowering springs, is the steering limiting kit required as well?

All stuff going on the list of mods for this year!
