you stated u replaced the battery, is a calcium like for like ?

It's an RAC branded Exide battery they put in, think it's the R1-075. Looked for technical data but can't see if it's calcium. Is that a known problem, replacing calcium with something different?

Thanks for the reply. Thought I'd post a quick update - took it in to the garage today and they ran Ford diagnostics and couldn't identify the fault...
So, no joy - could happen again any time without warning. Will contact Ford and see what they have to say.

Thanks for the replies. Not looking especially good then if it's down to the primer :(

If I take it to a local independent garage (Ford approved) do you have any kind of idea what price I'd be likely looking at for a paint job on this? Has anyone used ChipsAway before (I know it's franchise so depends on where you are and who you get as to how good it is, but any insight welcomed)?

Turns out the pump was shot so I had to get that replaced :(

What's strange is that I changed the screen wash to Autoglym Ultimate (quick clear) about a week before the problems started, and at the same time I also refilled the parent's car with it - now theirs is having exactly the same problem.... :S

Ta for the replies. Glad I didn't go the whole hog with syphoning manually then in that case...!

Still not having much luck with it. The rear washer isn't working at all. I read it could be that there's a leak somewhere in the piping but haven't spotted any wet patches inside. Also read it's a complete PITA to get at the pipe for the rear washer/jet so don't really want to fiddle around without knowing what I was doing.

The motor does sound like it's straining a bit. Could it be under-use, e.g. could it have seized up or something?
