#288473 Karcher Pressure Washer

Posted by Bladerunner on 07 September 2013 - 09:12 AM

In all the years I have been a car owner ( wow that makes me feel old) there is no substitute for a proper hard wax polish and some elbow grease.

My garage is full of all sorts of types of polish and wash waxes that I have bought over the years.

I have although found that Maguires clay bar system is good but I now use Autoglym high definition wax.

Like everything you only get out what you put in and solid wax is not as quick as some polish products to deal with but the results I get are superior to anything else I have tried.

I use Maguires gold shampoo, not cheap but worth it.

I also have found that there is no substitute for hand washing with a mitt and using 2 buckets, one for shampoo the other to rinse the mitt.

And yes I have a nearly new power washer with brush attachments that would only scratch the paint so its used for removing the heavy grime and rinsing off after washing ( no brush)

Hope my Mrs don't read this or else she will look in to my garage cupboards and no doubt complain at the money I have spent.

Cheers

Martin

#280360 Mod Ideas What Do You Think

I agree with I nath on the tinting of front windows, but as ever it's up to the individual.

I would hate to cause an accident because of too dark a tint.

Lenny, your Focus is looking spot on.

Hi fellow fiesta owners, a couple of months ago I posted a general request on your views on the 1.2 mk 7 fiesta.
I just thought that I should update you to the fact that my oldest daughter did buy a used style plus based on your thoughts.
Many thanks to those of you that responded.

#254232 Guide: Fitting Egr Blanking Plate 1.6Tdci Engine

Posted by Bladerunner on 22 April 2013 - 06:08 AM

Hi Lenny,

The fuel in oil light came on during an 'extra rapid' run own the M6 mostly in the fast lane-28mls approx. so I expect the engine was very hot, this appears contrary to what should happen with the dpf! when I think back the throttle was to the floor part of the journey, every one of the 5 days commute to work it gets a good blast up and back on the M6 almost 60 mls. -70-80 mph which probably means a true 65-75 is this not enough for a re-gen.

Angel tune have a re-map with 117bhp, and 54nm more  torque which is the part which makes the difference in my mind.

They come to you for a cost of £275 inc vat.

This sounds reasonable for the increases mentioned along with promised better low down drivability.

They also offer dpf removal, has anyone you know had this done.

Cheers

Martin.

#254184 Guide: Fitting Egr Blanking Plate 1.6Tdci Engine

Posted by Bladerunner on 21 April 2013 - 09:11 PM

Hi Lenny, thanks for the prompt reply.

I have followed your link to ebay and ordered a blanking plate.

Ok then, it looks as though I ought to revert to my initial purchase plan and make the Fiesta a keeper.

It makes perfect sense to stop the crud going back into the engine, valves etc as soon as possible, its now done 26,600 mls - bought with 8,500 last May.

I have been thinking of the option to re-map or fit a tuning box from TDi tuning.

Never done this before, our Volvo is standard but has plenty of go, previous Skoda Octavia was the same.

Of couse the same cannot be said for the Fiesta.

I have already suffered fuel in oil warning light (flushed and new oil).

So I will have to get it sorted asap.

What company did your re-map, have they places over here as it were.

Thanks

Martin.

Hi Lenny, very good staged info on fitting the plate.

Not looking good on changing the Fiesta now as there may be work issues looming, never mind its a great car but lacking in low down grunt.

It stands to reason that any engine that re-breathes its own products of combustion cannot run very well.

Ok, when you fitted the plate did you not have to alter or have altered any electrics such as sensors -lambda, mapping etc.

What happens to the egr valve when you disconnect it , does it have to stay in place or did you remove it.

Will it pass the mot test with this done or do you have to temporarily replace fro the test?

I have the 95 bhp in my Fiesta, has yours got a variable vane turbo or is it the same as my set up but mapped different.

Lots of questions Lenny but I am sure you have researched all of this.

Cheers

Martin.

Hi Lenny, just found this post on what you have done to your Focus.

Are you employed in the motor trade , if not you have made it look as though you are, top quality workmanship and really good easy to follow guides.

Looks spot on.

#248674 So, Which Do You Prefer?

Posted by Bladerunner on 02 April 2013 - 05:50 PM

My brother in law has the titanium 3 door 1.0 litre engine,I dont like the new front end -prefer mine.

I keep tropical fish and yes the front  looks like a feeding  basking shark to me never mind a guppy.

I think the design has been spoiled, what manufacturers will do to create more sales beggars belief at times.

Won't be swopping mine for one any time soon.

#234087 Diesel Fuel In Engine Oil

Posted by Bladerunner on 07 February 2013 - 09:23 PM

Just an up-date on my issues.
Had the oil changed on recommendation after my mechanic had a look at its condition.
He drained it the used a flush product the replenished with the Ford recommended oil,as before.
Apparently this Peugeot engine is known to be a 'dirty' beast .
I hope this does not cause more issues but only time will tell.
Cheers

#233776 Diesel Fuel In Engine Oil

Posted by Bladerunner on 06 February 2013 - 10:37 PM

Hi fellas, I spoke to my mechanic and he was very surprised that this warning light had come on especially as he knows what the car does each week on my commute to work, -300mls plus.
He has spoken to the local Ford senior technician he knows and the story is that as its a Peugeot engine it is very susceptible to soot on the sensor -egr valve being bunged up, and whilst their is a remote chance of fuel contamination the Ford man says the sensor may require re-setting which will be the only problem, the way the car is used he has more or less discounted egr problems.
The oil is being checked tomorrow and if all is ok a sensor re-set is all that is required.
Thanks for your thoughts on this.
Will keep you informed on what happens, I hope It never ends in a run away engine.
Martin.
PS.Fortunately we have 2 cars so have only driven about 10 miles after oil warning came on.

#233548 Diesel Fuel In Engine Oil

Posted by Bladerunner on 06 February 2013 - 07:05 AM

Hi everyone, its been a while,
Anyhow had to make an appointment last night and time was tight, an m-way run of 30 miles at well over the limit, during the latter stages of this run the oil warning light came on the dash and also some message flashed up on the centre radio console.
Now this was not anywhere near flat out with my foot no where near the floor.
Now the oil can symbol shows a wavy line under neath , also this stays on all the time car is running, accompanied by a brief message on centre console saying
'oil change due at next service'
The hand book states tis particular oil can with wavy line means fuel in oil.
I have never come across this type of oil warning light before on any previously owned diesel car.
has anyone else suffered this same issue, is there something wrong with my engine that has gone wrong that has allowed this to develop.
The car has been serviced at my local independant garage using Ford genuine parts and reccomended oil, this was serviced only 7,500 miles ago.
The car mainly runs on m-way 60 mls per day 5 days week between 70-75mph.
Any thought would be much appreciated.
This is the 95 bhp version.
Cheers
