#438119 Introducing Titan..

Posted by Brigante on Yesterday, 05:14 AM

Work commitments and trying to strip the focus down has delayed modding the mondeo

Managed to get a couple small ones out the way today..

Swapped the reverse lights for the cree's from the focus. Already had 2 reverse lights which saves a job I had to do on the focus

And started converting the interior lighting to blue led

Still need to wire in rear footwell lighting. You'll notice the driverside footwell isnt lit up either.. ford has put that bulb holder in a stupidly hard to reach place, especially if you have fat hands. I'll reattempt to fit it tomorrow.

Also have headlight brows that i'll hopefully fit tomorrow as well as a reverse parking camera and 5" monitor that I'll be fitting as soon as i suss out the best place to fit the screen so it is out the way till required

#433444 Double Din Headunit

Posted by Brigante on 02 December 2014 - 02:49 AM

i trumped for the 3500dab myself as it was only 20quid extra over the bluetooth version

i have to say the dab signal is horrendous

i have been through 2 different glass mounted aerials and the signal was very very patchy if not none existent. could be driving for half an hour at a time in silence before getting a couple seconds of sound and then cut out again

it would cut out if i sped up, slowed down, kept a constant speed, went down the side of another car. basically just terrible

i then tried a splitter that converts the factory external fm aerial into a dab/fm aerial

this seemed to work better as for a while i seemed to have a good signal locally

but then soon as i'd pick up any speed it would cut out again, go down the side of a lorry it would cut out, and if you think you can get a signal on motorway forget it. didnt seem to work for long locally either as it would still cut out after a while

so i spent 20 quid extra for a dab head unit and then 60quid on 3 different aerials/splitters. that means so far i've spent 80quid on trying to get dab to work with no success

the next step would be to get a magnetic mounted external dab aerial at even more expense and personally i think they look tacky as itt means having a visible wire on the outside of the car

#431572 Removing Sideskirts/tiger Seal

Posted by Brigante on 26 November 2014 - 03:15 AM

So you mean soak the top of the side skirt along where it overlaps the door way? and it should start to come away from the body enough to get a tool underneath the skirt to cut the tiger seal?

ello ello ello stranger indeed

#424973 Strange Indicator Problem. Please Help Asap

Posted by Brigante on 02 November 2014 - 11:41 PM

this problem has now been resolved, after all the faff i had the previous night in the rain using my torch for light, the next morning i had another look at it

the passenger headlight had shorted some how and one of the pins on the headlight connector block had some melted plastc clogging it up some how

i scraped this out with a screwdriver, plugged the headlight back in and to my delight the lights now all worked as they should

god knows how it managed to short out and after all the faff it turned out to be quite easy to reseolve

cheers for all the help fellas

These are how you do proper mug shots. The first one is when I was 16 and the other is when I was 18. Don't know which is worse.

#343488 I Hate Car Insurance

Posted by Brigante on 16 March 2014 - 01:17 PM

I'm 24, 5-6years driving experience, 3years ncb. No motoring offences or other convctions.

Currently paying 795quid. Was 695quid but my job needed me to add business insurance which added 100quid to me policy.

Insurance due next month so I've been getting quotes. Gave hastings a go who my yunger sister is paying 500quid with when she's only got 2years of driving behind her.. They quoted me 5grand!!!

Done a moneysupermarket quote and the cheapest i got was 1500quid upwards. What the hell is going on!

Waiting to see what my renewal quote will be from current insurer. I thought quotes was supposed to go down with age and experience not up.

#322192 "taking Oval To Blue Horizon" Lenny's Build Thread 2010-2015

Posted by Brigante on 15 January 2014 - 08:09 PM

Hi Charlie,

i reckon the Osram Cool blue intense are a whiter light than the Osram Nightbreaker plus,

Osram say the nightbreakers are brighter than the cool blue, and that is true but i think the white beam is perfect for the low beam, goes nice with the 6000kelvin parking bulbs and cree fogs, but i would keep the Osram Nightbreaker Plus bulbs in for the high beam

How drastic is the difference in brightness on the road of the nightbreaker dipped compared to the cool blue dipped?

#321811 Turn Off Seat Belt Chime?

Posted by Brigante on 15 January 2014 - 01:27 AM

Higgsy beat me to it lol

I have also connected my car to my laptop using a modified elm327 cable and the elmconfig software to turn off the seatbelt chime. Not that I ever drive without my seatbelt, I just did it because I could lol

#321502 "taking Oval To Blue Horizon" Lenny's Build Thread 2010-2015

Posted by Brigante on 14 January 2014 - 03:01 PM

Lenny mate how do you find the brightness of the cool blue intense compared to that of the nightbreaker unlimiteds for night time driving?

And hyrule your diamond vision should pass the mot no problem. Examiners cant physically remove the bulbs to look for E marks. As long as it doesnt produce a stupidly blue light and just looks white you should be fine.

I know this cause my car sailed through its last mot with no advisories with osram cool blue hypers fitted which are also not E marked.
