#351361 For The Attention Of Members,,,,, Dtc Codes Explained

Posted by martyntdci on 06 April 2014 - 01:38 PM

best thing do is to buy a scanner and get the codes of the ecu....  could be a cluster problem, could be a battery problem, a wiring problem ie sensor down....

somebody on here will be along with more knowledge than me to assist you.....

should be serviced every 5k, oil n filter. air filter change upon visual inspection.... id do the fuel filter once a year, ppl say no but i do....  the 1.6 tdci are prone to turbo failure do the lack of oil changes wich means oil breaks down forming sludge and this in time blocks the feed to the turbo.. but you dont have this problem, but maintain is a must....

#351305 Guide: Fitting Egr Blanking Plate 1.6Tdci Engine

Posted by martyntdci on 06 April 2014 - 11:55 AM

in a word yes, they needed to be visually inspected for mot purposes, if it has been removed then you get a instant fail, and you would have to purchase 1 and fit it, before your 2weeks free test is up.... get it cut open, internals removed, welded back up but then the car needs re-mapping and the dpf software altering with in the cars ecu.. a re-map and dpf removal is around the 400 figure....

#350135 Egr Valve

the mot for a derv is a rev and a fast pass,  the cats guts will be removed then seam welded back up... the the under tray covers the cat, and the mot inspector refuses to take these off, as ive asked him to before so he can check under there..... he refuses to take off the tdci engine cover and look underneath.... ive said before il do it for him, but he says no lol..... im with the car at time of mot, literally like 3 steps away. been going to the same bloke now for 5-6 years..... good man he is

#349792 Egr Valve

Posted by martyntdci on 01 April 2014 - 04:35 PM

this mapper came offered by a friend who has had work done by him.....he re-fuses to touch my car, until problems have been fixed but i told him blanked egr saves inlets/turbo's.... his reply, turbo's run on cool oil which the egr valve seems to cool,(i thought this was the job of the oil cooler?) so hotter oil break's down quicker = sludge build up in turbo and feed pipe.... A... oil change more frequently = better engine maintenance :-)

FOCA, why would my motor kick out blue smoke on start up, only in the morning once been sat... its like oil dripping through into the chambers......  will have to have another look on Saturday morning at the smoke, to see if there is any difference now oil has been changed... oh and oil level is/was under maximum, so there is not to much compression going on....

EXPONENTIAL....  tbh my mpg is fine ive had no worries with it dropping, you should get better mpg in theory... what map did you opt for?

best thing you can do is give it a service...... you do a full de-cat/induction kit you will loose power and create a noise (if you want that go for it).... its not worth it..... the chip is rubbish...... tbf there is not much you can do with a 1.4 n/a.. if it was a 1.4 derv then id say get it mapped serviced etc..... then you may get a extra 25 bhp out of that....
