Locking Wheel Nut Removal?

14 June 2014 - 01:21 PM

i was working on a lads car yesterday out side me house, and was just tightening his wheels nuts up and it clicked to me.....

"when they broke in the car last weekend they took my locking nut key..... ford want 80+vat for removal, and a extra 60+vat for a new set fitting, how fooking ridiculous"...

ive tried ringing round garages/tyre firms and no body wants to know, i must of rang around 20 this morning...

even tried the 2 break down companies we're with, they just said that they would tow the car to a garage that can sort it as they dont carry these tools.... i just said !Removed! invest in some then....

tried looking in the handbook for the original key code so ford "can order 1 from Germany" but its not there..

so what ive done for the time being, ive gone to general motors and bought a aftermarket febi set and put these on the rims as well (now i have 2 locking nuts lol) so if they come back to the car and try n steal the wheels, at least they are kinda protected.....

ive looked into welding a nut onto the original locking nut so i can try and get it off (i only pinch them up, never as tight as the others) but they have a stainless spinning collar so i doubt my weld will stick.... (mig)

so now im asking for others advice if they have been/know of anybody who has been in the same situ....

thanks for reading.............

Cataclean

06 June 2014 - 05:55 PM

just bought a bottle of cataclean for eurocarparts and going to try this tomorrow...

euro wanted 14 online, rang them up wanted 17... i was like that's a tad expensive can you do anything on the price? ive seen it for 11.99 on car parts 4 less and he said come down before we close and il do it for 11..... never thought of bartering with them before has anybody tried getting things cheaper, if not now's the time to try lol.....

has anybody tried this before and does it work? i know you get what you pay for but it could be worth it...  i have no problem with the car what so ever, just bought this as a maintenance thing before i re-new the fuel filter.

and next week im getting a can of  valvoline turbo cleaner, yet again as a trial maintenance thing
