#437544 Recently Bought A 07 Zetec 1.4 Climate

Posted by DieselPig on 17 December 2014 - 07:31 PM

If you don't like it sell it and buy something else, it's a second hand car and will not be perfect.

Don't waste money trying to make the car into your idea of perfection.

#428953 Fiesta Mk6 1.4 Zetec - Induction Kit/oil Catch Tank Question(S)

Posted by DieselPig on 16 November 2014 - 09:18 PM

Correct, the pipe is to vent gas into the airbox to be burnt by the engine and you will get some oil vapour. A catch tank is the way to go as the engine bay will end up with a thin film of oil mist over everything.

#398277 Fiesta Mk6 1.4 Style Coolant Leak

Your mechanic has bodged it. I would never put any radiator fix in my car as it masks other potential issues.

He should have stripped it and fitted a new gasket, this problem can occur even on new cars of any make not just Ford.

#357325 Low Milage But Burning Oil :-/ Please Read

Posted by DieselPig on 26 April 2014 - 08:03 PM

When these cars were first launched some were filled with the wrong oil, must be 5/30. If this is the case then you are now experiencing the outcome.

The low mileage and service history mean little if the cars been thrashed and serviced incorrectly.

Buy the genuine Ford part, they are a particular grade of steel. The wrong material bolts may snap in an accident.

The brake discs will rust in this lovely wet weather, the pulsing is the rust being worn off. Nothing to worry about.

#290681 Steering Rack Gone At 33K

Posted by DieselPig on 16 September 2013 - 08:07 PM

No, the rack should not fail at such a low mileage given that it is a simple mechanical rack not a more complex hydraulic one.

What has actually failed? The rack itself or the power assistance motor?
