Ahhh that makes sense, mines just single disc and I'm 99.999999% sure it should make the noise EVERY time I start the car. If I put a CD in it and leave it in the noise doesn't occur. They have replaced the stereo apparently.

 

 

Mine whirs when it starts up, them again it is a 6 disc unit and it's just the CD changer tray engaging.

What do you mean apart from the stereo whirring? I've never experienced that on any car I've owned aside from when the permanent live is connected for the first time?

None of the occurrences (apart from the stereo whirring) you describe are normal in any way.
How can Ford close the case when they haven't fixed a thing?
I'd tell them straight that I was going to an independent garage and any costs incurred would be invoiced to them.
Trading standards is a very good idea, also a couple of stories to local papers may kick the hornets nest over.

To be fair theres nearly a years warranty left on it and the faults been there since the day I bought it so trust me when I say they won't be fobbing me off.

They aren't saying there isn't anything wrong, simply that they cannot find it. I'll see what the man from Ford says then take it from there.

Thanks all, I'll have to borrow my neighbours meter as mine's bust but I'll see what I can do. To be fair I probably would rather the Ford Tech look at it. I trust they are doing everything they can, the guy thats been looking at it is about 60 and looks like his car knowledge peaked with the Sierra lol
