I had the exact same problem! For some reason they all seem to be quite flummoxed by the discount card, except I had to try and teach the poor girl how to work out 15% of the bill, couldn't bring myself to trick her though.

#402506 Good Insurance Companies?

Posted by Oxide on 28 August 2014 - 10:48 AM

Sorted out all the final details for the insurance. I've got my mondeo covered for £640 with a £350 excess, protected no claims, fully comp, and with my better half as a named driver. Overall a massively better deal than anyone else was willing to give me. He also did me a great deal for insuring my girlfriend on my 1.6 focus zetec with me as a named driver.

Whilst I have no experience with making a claim or being with this company for an extended period of time I would highly recommend calling Chris Knott for a quote as so far the customer service has been excellent.

Got protected no claims out of him already, might try to push for free breakdown cover, but I'm not sure if it's really necessary on a 59 plate with only 26k miles on it

I spent about 30 minutes in the phone with this guy...he better have all the right details lol. He does seem very eager to work on a deal to suit me.

#402031 Good Insurance Companies?

I've been ringing around insurance companies today looking for a quote on a 59 plate mondeo titanium x sport which I'm picking up on Monday. My insurance has always been expensive being a 23 year old and having held my UK license for less than 2 years, however I have 6 years no claims from when I was driving in America. It certainly doesn't help that I have to have my girlfriend as a named driver who had an accident earlier this year.

So far the cheapest quote I've had by far was from Chris Knott Insurance who I found through TalkFord (sorry, not trying to advertise other sites or anything) and even that was £640 with a £350 excess. But so far they're the only company who have been able to give me a reasonable quote (if you can call £640 reasonable)

I'll keep shopping around but even the woman from Adrian Flux said that they couldn't match anywhere near that offer (quoting me over £1k) and my cheapest quote from comparison websites was £1,750 with a £700 excess!!!

I would also be kicking myself down the line if I'd bought the 2.0L and pulled up next to a 2.2 sport at the lights :P

#400747 Wind Deflectors On A 2009 Estate ... Opinions ?

I have Heko's on my focus, they were a breeze to install and haven't had any problems at all with them so far. And I wouldn't be worried about them falling off unless you're doing 90-100 with the windows down.

I think I've set my heart on the 2.2 tit x sport. While the 2.0 L would be more economic, the difference in diesel and tax cost should only work out to be £300 a year more expensive (not factoring in the initial cost of the car) which I realise isn't an insignificant amount but I can afford it.

I appreciate the help guys, looking forward to starting my infuriating search for what's seems to be a relatively elusive car. Hopefully I'll have some pictures to put up on here soon.

#388344 Foot Well Lights Help!!

Posted by Oxide on 21 July 2014 - 06:22 PM

I just have to add that I followed Lenny's guide to adding footwell lights last year and it work a treat. Still have them (in red as you're planning) and they look great. If you're looking to add footwell lights I would say its worth looking into changing the flood lights as well.

Haha sorry, the pictures will definitely be a good addition to the guide though.

Got my glovebox light done while I was at it as well lol, and I found a better solution for wiring the aux in as well.

Just need to mount the led pods, not sure where to put them
