Crabbing? ??

You've never been crabbing vicki?
I'm assuming we're talking about the things in the sea and not reverting back to the previous topics?

Thought I'd get involved in this, nice to put a face to a name for many of you!
Probably one of the younger people on here...hard to find a picture of me where I look vaguely normal, so my work mugshot will have to do :')

#360477 Mk2.5 Focus Washer Motor Dead

Posted by Chris_pickford94 on 05 May 2014 - 02:25 PM

The easiest way to get to the washer motor is by taking the right front wheel off, removing the arch liner and you should then have access to the washer bottle

If the washers aren't wiping either tho, it could be a more serious problem, but I'd try (if you have a multimeter) making sure the motors getting power to it and also resistance test the motor to try and eliminate one or the other

This may be something you could do with elmconfig but as far as I know there's no hidden trick to doing it

#359604 Ambient Lighting.

Posted by Chris_pickford94 on 03 May 2014 - 07:29 AM

Hi ho peeps,
Does anybody have any ideas on the easiest way to fit ambient lighting into a mk7 fiesta s1600, it doesn't come with them as standard but I've managed to get hold of a titanium x roof light with submarine lights in but I thought it would be plug and play (appears not lol) any help would be great.
P.s. This is my first post so go easy on me guys :)

Have you got any pictures of the old and new units and the connector type on both of them?

And by ambient lighting, do you mean you want something like footwell lights?

#358634 Guide: Fitting Egr Blanking Plate 1.6Tdci Engine

Posted by Chris_pickford94 on 30 April 2014 - 05:57 PM

It looks like the clips they have on dishwashers
The bit at the top of the picture could be prised upwards with a screwdriver to release the tension on it

And then to get it back together you have to squeeze it tightly so that the 'teeth' slide over the notch and grip it closed

Saying that, depends how much room you've got to get tools in there

might not be so easy to de-tango but well worth it... as for the mist jets, the non heated ones, which i got, were only £7.32

That's not as expensive as I expected from ford tbh
Ford continue to surprise me!

#352261 Guide: Fitting Egr Blanking Plate 1.6Tdci Engine

Posted by Chris_pickford94 on 09 April 2014 - 03:33 PM

Thanks for the guide Lenny

Fitted the blanking plate today, took me about an hour and a half, being slow making sure I do It properly but the longest part was trying to get the blanking plate to slot in correctly

One thing I will point out to anyone else is that the screws are long on the egr valve, but the actual threads aren't as long as you'd hope, I undid the top one too much and and gasket fell down
If this happens, get a wire coat hanger, bend it to make a small hook, and you should be able too hook it in the screw hole and get it back into place

Can't honestly say I noticed a massive amount of difference
Maybe slightly less lag low down, but if it extends the engine life then for around £3 it's gotta be worth it

Also, donated to your PayPal (y)

#349371 Wheel Bolt Covers

Posted by Chris_pickford94 on 31 March 2014 - 05:58 PM

Loctite do a sort of superglue which is very strong but I can imagine it being quite pricey compared to mitre fast
The only other sort I could recommend are 2 part epoxy glues

Mitre fast should be plenty strong enough tho, I've used it in work on metal parts of washing machines and it holds no problem

A strong glue should do the job
As long as your wheels aren't on and off that often, it should hold onto the wheel nut easily

In work I use mitre fast (or mitre mate) a lot and it seems to stick pretty much anything I've tried instantly and is pretty strong and durable
