As it always happens with my cars... I now have the Mondeo pretty
much where I want it performance wise... and I think I may sell it.

I am moving back to Lincolnshire in early Jan... and will be buying our first house.

To generate more capital for a deposit I think selling my car will free up some cash. Would be looking for around £13k for it.

Would replace with a Mondeo MK3 ST-TDCI.

That roof looks so good !!!

Would you mind getting some pics of it in the day light too :-)?

Really debating if I want to get mine done... Just don't know if I have the guts to do it ?

Can I just ask if you have modded a car like this before?
If so when it came to selling it was the value in price any different ? Also because obviously some people when buying a car don't always want things like that which I guess lowers the interest a bit too which could make sales a longer process ?

Sorry... No more pics yet.

I have modded an Focus ST before. When it came to selling I stripped it back to standard. Sold the mods then the car. No bother.

Are you a Mag or a Mackem  :P

http://www.kouki.co....size-calculator

the speed difference from 30 and 60mph is the wrong way around so take no notice, rule of thumb is max 5% in speedo error.

Errr... Don't know if I am a Mag or Mackem?? I'm an Essex boy living in North Shields... So probably a Southern Shandy Drinking Softy... ;)

Once everything was oot the way there was plenty o space!

Wheels are a secret for now... There bigger and wider...

Today John-ST3 has worked a miracle and fitted the Airtec intercooler.

The 2 radiator spacers were quickly removed with a deft twist of Johns hand.

We
then looked at the space... now wide enough... but not tall enough.
John got his hammer... and removed the entire air feed from the top of
the intercooler space. In Fords wisdom they decided to fit the 3 foot
air feed all the way along the top of the intercooler...

IMG_1560_zpse4803df9.jpg

(See the black flexible tubing along the front... which actually takes air from the engine... not from the grill??)

as opposed to a 6" tube to the grill in front of the air box... genius!! So the lot was stripped out and binned.

So this was the space left...

From
here it was relatively easy going. The Airtec fitted easily in the gap.
Everything bolted up. Now the Airtec is only fixed from the 2 mounting
brackets at the bottom. So the top flops around and clanks against the
radiator. WTF were Airtec thinking of??? Not impressed. Eventually a
bracket will have to be created to go from the horn mount on the top of
the intercooler to the front crash bar. For now a couple of bits of card
jammed in stop it slapping around. Airtec/Auto-Specialists will get a
call regarding their diabolical fitting instructions and poor stability!

But
its all fitted. Throttle response is a tad smoother, but should notice
more difference once mapped and de-cat and DPF delete pipe fitted.
Forgot to take any pics of it fitted... will get some soon.

Also new wheels should not be far away... watch this space!

Big thanks to John-ST3 (Again)!!

#286625 I've Had A Bad Day!!

Posted by dohboy78 on 01 September 2013 - 06:25 PM

So I decided to fit my spangly new Airtec Intercooler today.

I jacked the car up using the jacking point... only to hear creaking and a big bang. Looked under and found this!

WTF!! Not happy.
So decided to carry on anyways. Took forever to strip the old
intercooler out. Stupid ford putting the jubilee clip screw on the top
of the pipe... completely inaccessible from underneath. But I persisted
and finally got if out.

Then
offered up the Airtec to find their is no way on gods earth it will
fit. At this point I had had enough and decided to have my lunch and
come back and have a look to make sure I wasn't being a divvy! But
no...Not only is it too tall and wide, but it fouls these... (Look in the hole where you can see the ground... there is a square bit o plastic)

(Top of the pic)

whatever they are??

Just not enough space...

So my favorite task... put every !Removed! thing back again. Cue cursing, scraped knuckles and thing getting thrown around!!

So basically my only day off in 14, and I have fitted 4 well nuts and my newly painted fog lights!

Not happy in the least. Have messaged John-ST3 who is going to have a look in a few weeks.

Quick update... just got back from AAS...

They made me this:

Unfortunately they couldn't make the De-cat pipe. They said it was far too complicated and too many tight bends.

When I arrived I saw this...

It was powered by this...

Also
got my new foglights back... painted in Panther Black by my little
bro... absolutely perfect! Just bonding the parts together now.
