In Topic: Intolerable Clutch Smell- How Do I Remove It?

Thanks stoney871 for your reply :) Hard to describe... An acrid burnt smell, somewhat resembling hot brakes. I guess that there is burnt residue around which will emit odour for a long time unless removed. I will have a word with the garage. Not cheap I expect, but I can't stand the smell !  James

In Topic: Fiesta Bluetooth lockup and reset

This morning, immediately after I hung up a call, the audio didn't resume. iPod was playing but no sound. Radio worked. Voice recognition muted the radio, but did nothing else. Phone call (dialled from menus) put the call through but no sound.
Had to leave ignition off for over 10 minutes before it reset itself. Switching off and back on left it crashed.

I have no intention of having to pull a fuse to reset stuff that should work properly every time! The system needs a reset button implementing. The entire audio/handsfree subsystem leaves a lot to be desired.

Just taken delivery of a Fiesta Titanium and have the same problem. Not only has it downloaded the entire phonebook (Facebook, Twitter, everything) which I don't want, but it has also mangled each entry by trying to put the last word first! So 'Bloggs Insurance Services' is now 'Services Bloggs Insurance' !!! How UTTERLY STUPID! I'm trying to find a way to correct this, but am coming to the conclusion that the entire phone directory subsystem on my Fiesta is unfit for purpose. It needs a serious code rewrite by someone who knows what they are doing. If I find an answer I'll post back :)

I have been trying to get this to work also. The STORE NAME command is accepted and then the name is requested. However the system generally tries to then DIAL !!! the name I speak (or at least it tries to match it with an entry in the phonebook).

Unlike James, I want this to work, since the stupid software design has downloaded all my google contacts, Facebook, Twitter, everything. Not only has it then mangled many of them beyond recognition, by attempting unwantedly to put them in surname order, but also renders voice dialling very uncertain - there are too many names that sound similar.

I hoped to add just the few I want to dial from the car.

<sigh> this phonebook implementation is utter rubbish. I expect better from a £14,000 car. My old Parrot handsfree gets it right every time.

I wonder if this a bugged software version that has been deployed without proper testing? It surely can't have been issued deliberately with the command implemented, but not working.

I had the same problem with my Desire, but found the trick of rescanning. Had to be quick before the PIN display vanished!

Now I have my entire contacts list -many of which are Facebook, Twitter and email-only contacts - in my car phonebook. This is making it useless for browsing and confuses the voicedialling. Looking for a solution, because I only want to push selected contacts to the Sony, not the entire phonebook!
