Mk6 Facelift Rear Lights

11 March 2013 - 12:42 PM

Hi I've brought some mk6 facelift rear lights to fit to my pre facelift fiesta after reading online and contacting someone who had done it before it looked like it would be a straight swap.
So just gone to do it and they are different plugs the light will fit in fine all the screw holes / fitting holes are in the right place but the plugs are different is there any adapters out there for this? Or any guide on how to modifiy them to fit? A few people gave said its a straight swap so I think they must of produced 2 versions of the facelift lights after a certain year maby they changed the plugs? I don't know but any help would be good as I can't find any guide as to get around this but I have seen many pre facelift fiestas with these lights.
Thanks

Bumper All Done :) Check Out The Pics

06 March 2013 - 03:13 PM

Ill post up a few photos of the process (I did) to smooth the bumper I'm not 100% happy with it so ill be redoing it soon. if you do this I suggest you check then check then check again that it is 100% smooth before you paint as mine isn't perfect and I'm going to have to start again may be me being fussy but ill be redoing it next week.

I got the bumper filler from halfords £8 a tube and I used 2 tubes
I cut 2 pieces of Perspex to the same size as the number plate 1 cracked but I just put it under the other one and screwd them into place you can also use spare trim , this is to take up most of the space so you don't use so much filler (most people say to plastic weld but when your slapping on so much filler it doesn't matter to much as this filler is more flexible than standard stuff so won't crack

Then bacicly fill it sand it and paint it really lol use a sanding block the so you take the shape of the bumper. Hopefull the pics will speak for themself.
I have made this sound like a easy job but it really isn't it took me 2-3 days and sanding until my hands were bleeding but its worth it in the end.
And before anyone says it I know it's good to have a bathroom that doubles up as a garage lol
I also fitted fog lights and sprayed the fog surrounds and bumper grilles gloss black
Pics below
Hope this helps someone :)

Bumper Smoothing Any Tips?

05 March 2013 - 04:58 PM

Hi I'm in the process of smoothing my front bumper (so the numberplate groove has gone) as I want to make my mk6 fiesta a little different and I don't just want to make it onto a straight st replica like everyone else so I've got a later mk6 bumper (mines a 04 plate) and iv brought a pair of fog lights for it, I've sprayed them gloss black as well as the grilles and ill be getting the st rear bumper + other bits soon
So i was wondering if anyone has any tips? I'm about halfway through smoothing the bumper already and it's a bit of a job, been doing if for the last 2 days. taken a few pics to post up a how to guide but I wouldn't follow it if I was you lol think I've done it the hard way any help is appreciated cheers
