#443501 Focus Behaving Weird

Posted by orangeboy on 10 January 2015 - 04:02 PM

Thought you all might like to know where I am at.

Had the Focus into my Ford Dealer and came back with no fault found. The changed all the wheel sensors, but the problem persists.

Then, I was chatting to a guy at work who has his own garage. I described the symptoms, and he was convinced it was the battery that was on its way out.

He suggested that I turn on the engine, and all high load items such as lights, heated screens etc. If the voltage at the battery was above 13.5v he was sure it would be the battery.

It was 14.5v.

New battery fitted, and all cured.

Seemingly when the PCM detects low battery voltage it can throw up all sorts of weird fault codes.

So if you guys ever get the same weird behaviour, you'll know where yo look.

#340772 Egr Blanked Off Or Not

Just done my one this morning, 2008 1.8 TDCI. I bought a stainless steel plate with slotted holes and just loosened off the bolts on the pipe / EGR union and slipped it in. Didn't even have to remove the scuttle.

I've been a run of 50 miles or so today, and my initial experience is good - less smoke out the rear and a smoother power delivery throughout more of the power band.

And so far no EML, but I'm not counting my chickens just yet.

I, like you, was hesitant to do this, but my advice would be do it. If the worst come to the worst you can always take it back out, it's only a fiver you'll have wasted!.

#326283 Odd Headlight Units - Mk2.5

I have just had to replace my headlights.

The black ones are original but have been discontinued due to " quality issues " and have been replaced with the chrome bezels.

The only option for you would be to replace the black one with a chrome one.

I got my lights form Ford Parts UK, think they cost £90 each.

+ 1 for the Lockwood's. They seem a great bit of kit and really easy to fit.

They also hide any scratches that may be already there.
