Has anyone tried this? you can get just the fog lights to come on by pulling it and trying to keep between the off and the sidelights position. i was wondering if maybe cutting parts of the switch inside to be able to pull the switch from the off position to get the foglamps? by default the fogs wont come on unless the switch is in the sidelights position

Water Pump Replacement

Its leaking, ive given it to Ford and they say its going to cost around £320 for it to be replaced. is that a rip-off?
also where is it located? if its inside the timing belt area then i mightaswell get that changed too since its due soon or is it where the aux belt is?

Bonnet Latch And Fuel Return Pipe Clips
31 January 2013 - 01:37 PM
Hello everyone.
Two issues I've come across yesterday.
Firstly how the hell do you get the little damn clips back into the fuel return pipes? i had the whole pipes changed to stop diesel leaking and just cannot get my finger in there properly to push the clips back in. already lost 2 clips which ill have to pop the under-tray off to get back. it seems to be alright to drive without the clips as its already secured with just the plugs.
Secondly. i have noticed that sometimes the boot latch fails to open. if i turn the key to the 1 position, nothing would happen until i keep it in 1 and give a hard tap around the mechanism area which would pop it out of the first latch, then it would also be a struggle trying to open the second latch but eventually after some pulling around i can get it open. the first latch seems to work fine when i manually click it back to the position it would be when its closed, and turning the key to 1 would pop the latch open. and for the number 2 latch it wouldn't travel all the way to the end so its sort of stops half way which doesn't give it enough space for the bonnet to go through. What type of spray can i use to make the latches more springy? i tried silicone paste but it doesn't seem to do much effect or would i need to replace the part?
Many thanks for any replies.

Abs/brake Problem?
18 January 2013 - 09:34 PM
Hi guys,
Driving down the snowy A40 today back to london, and came across some instances where i had to brake in the snowy road. when i press the brake the pedal only went down a small amount and heard a very loud banging nose, its abit like a rock was stuck between the pads and the disk or something and i could feel it through the pedal. very strange and hard to explain. but on a dry or wet road it dosent produce the issue. seems to only be when the tyres are locking. is that an ABS issue? i pretty much had 0-5% brake force and nearly hit the car in front :S luckily managed to swerve onto another lane and survived today.
Also is the ABS light supposed to flash intermittently when its working the brakes? i didnt get no ABS light come up when applying the brakes hard. i also noticed some rust around the edges of the brakes when i went in to replace my front worn tyres for used winters.

Mk2 1.8 Tdci Gearbox Mount (Top)
14 January 2013 - 06:49 PM
Hi there,
I was driving down the road and suddenly i heard a clunk and the whole car began to shake. pulled up as early as i could. it sounded like an exhaust part had come off.
Called AA and had him inspect the exhaust. everything seemed fine. then he stuck his hand around under the airbox and battery and found that the gearbox mount had come loose and dropped off. this was strange as 90% of the thread was still there on the mount hole and the massive screw was also fine.
He managed to jack the car up and bolted the mount in again and seems alright so far, but he recommended i replace that part and limit my driving. Car seems fine so far, doesn't look like anything else has been damaged so far.
Does anyone know where i would be able to get the mount? Ford are quoting £80 for the part, and its gonna have to be ordered in. I've rang a few breakers and none of them have the part available. I stay in the Cheltenham area during the week and go back to East London on the weekends, id like to have the part replaced before i on the motorway journey back.
Thanks for any help.
Its the mount you can see in the middle of the screenshot. the bolt and connection to the chasis is right under the battery tray
