In Topic: Wiring For 240 Volt Output

11 April 2013 - 09:02 PM

You just need a normal inverter similar to what people have in caravans etc. Get a decent one and it will wire directly onto the cars battery. My company owns a few Discovery's which we require inverters into not only run TV screens but also run items such as stabilised cameras, CCU's, PSU's, Chargers, Talkback units etc. (They are Discovery's for TV Use we also do the same with some ford transits) Really quick and easy to install, The only problem comes with hiding it. Might be able to fit one under one of the front seats, if not put it in the boot and just run a normal 240V cable from it with a 3 or 4 gang socket on it (or less if required)

The only thing you might need to do is occasionally top the cars battery up if stuff is going to be often used when the car is turned off etc. basically make sure you always have either a set of jump leads of a trickle charger on hand for just incase.

Take a look at some caravan sights etc and you should be able to see what they do.

Hi

The blanking square is actually a lot stronger and thicker than they look. I recently installed a jack plug in one of mine in my mark 2 facelift focus. I happily used a power drill and actually and glad I did. Turns out they are quite strong plastic.

see the pictures here: http://www.fordowner...-mod-mk2-focus/

It was easy to install although the annoying thing was the jack plug I bought, the thread was to short to go through the blanking plate (turns out its about 3 or 4 mm thick) so i had to glue it in instead, so you will need something with a long thread or as I am planing to do, put a neutrik 3.5m jack chassis mount socket in instead. I will post pics when I eventually get round to this.

Happy 'Auxing'

In Topic: What Can You Fit In Your Ford?

18 March 2013 - 10:17 PM

Managed to fit an entire Ikea Flat pack sofa in the back of my old focus. Had to have my drivers seat along way forward and stick the misses in the back but it fitted after ALOT of pushing and pulling and cursing!!

I was pretty impressed!

In Topic: Reversing Light

It could also be the reverse switch. I had this go on my old 2001 focus. Found the switch easy enough located on the bottom of the gearbox. simply grabbed a spanner and unscrewed it. When i took it out it looked a little like a detonator button (pretty cool I thought!)

Simply went down to my local scrap yard and checked all of the fords there. After about the 10th car I finally found one. I think it was an old Mondeo. I just grabbed the one out of the Mondeo and then took it back cleaned it up a little and fitted it to my focus. The light worked instantly.

Worth a try :)
