#479168 Kpg's Focus Mk2 Titanium

Posted by yunii on 23 April 2015 - 08:29 PM

Looks decent. My diesel focus I brought from family was 90% motorway miles and is sweet. Done 127000 and still on the same clutch. 85000 is certainly nothing to worry about, even on a petrol.

I once bought a mondeo with 157k on it & had no service history but drove very well. In the time i had it apart from servicing i only changed full exhaust & a used cat as it blocked silencer.

It'd be interesting to see if it actually was motorway miles. There's the main motorway between Belfast and Dublin down where the car is, would be a main driving route. Is there any way to prove its motorway miles apart from the dealers word? I'm guessing not.

What do you think of the 1.6T EcoBoost engine in a mondeo ? Underpowered? Thirsty?

Thanks for the info Clive.

Hints for motorway mileage is stone chipping on front bumper/ bonnet etc.

Looks mint :D

Mines filthy thanks to builders working next door. :(

I'd hate that . Send them car wash bill .
Its pretty good apart from some key scratch on passerside rear & small one on wing & one deep scratch on a pillar across both driverside doors.too costly to do these .prabably & do it sometime.plus need the cash to do it.

Sometimes if you keep an eye open members break their aging or damaged cars for spares. Ive known that lots of times.

#466576 Newbie Intro & Q - 04 Focus Air Filter Housing

Posted by yunii on 17 March 2015 - 07:18 PM

Hello!

Firstly thanks for being so knowledgable, I feel so inept when it comes to cars!

My MOT is due next week and for years I have been taking about changing the Air Filter as when I bought it, there was an after market one installed. The sound (noise to me but I thought I'd be a bit PC) isn't the worst to be fair, but it rattles a lot as it doesn't sit properly in the fitting.

I spoke to the MOT guys and they said all I need to do is by a second hand Air Filter Housing unit and they will fit it for me - but I hardly think it is that simple; or is it??

I had a quick look on ebay and found the following Air Filter Housing Unit but not sure if that is the right one. Car details are as follows; 04 Plate (98-04 model) Focus, 2 door 1.6 Petrol. Don't want to spend a huge amount of money on it, if it is cheap I will replace it, if not then I'll buy ear plugs :)

Cheers in advance for the help,
Harry

Hi & welcome. All model mk1 & mk1.5 from 1998-2005 had the same airbox , only thing different was a snorkel was different & air deflecter was also , on st170.
