Mk 2.5 2.0 Tdci Autobox Fluid Change

28 November 2013 - 05:02 PM

Hi,

On behalf of the father In law, could someone please outline the process involved in an automatic transmission fluid change ?

I'm guessing there is a filter to change also?

Many thanks

Boost Hose Visibly Stretching

07 June 2013 - 10:33 PM

Hi all, is it normal on a 1.8tdci to see the boost hose swell right up when it's boosting. It was a new genuine ford one literally less than 1K miles ago as the old one split.

And also it keeps pushing itself off by about a quarter inch or so, no matter how tight I do the jubilee clip up :s any suggestions on that ?

What Is Your Mileage ? Who's Racked Them Up ?

10 May 2013 - 07:36 PM

Hello all,

Just a roll call of the higher mileage people on here, mines only got 53k, and when I owned BMWs I saw many a person over the quarter million mile mark, but just who has some of the highest milers here !?

And include if you can what major components you have replaced ?

Turbo Noise From Cold Is Flutter Normal

08 May 2013 - 08:34 AM

Hi guys,

From cold I noticed my 1.8tdci makes a pidgeon noise, like a flutter when changing gears for around 5 mins from cold start, it's only slight, I notice it with the radio off.

Is this a normal attribute ? The car has had regular oil changes, and is actually semi clean since I have had two oil changes within about 500 miles just to be sure.

Engine Rattle 1.8Tdci 2007

30 April 2013 - 03:58 PM

Hi all,

I want to try and make this as concise as possible for anyone to help me.

I have a 2007 tdci focus 52k on the clock and FSH. It has developed a rattle and I'm not 100% sure if it has done it since using engine flush or not but its just something I traced back and thought maybe related, the noise is also loudest when the engine is hot. No obvious power loss, smoke, etc.

The sound is almost a bearing sort of sound like a tensioner, however I have replaced the aux belt and tensioner (and ran it without the belt on ) and it still does the noise.

I have also just had the cambelt and tensioner replaced, and it's still doing it.

When ford listened to it, they said its most likely either of this things, I have tried listening with a stethoscope and I can only say it sounds loudest at the left hand side of the engine.

Please can anyone suggest what the noise could be ? The only sort of moving this on that side I can think of left is the chain that runs the fuel pump? Can anyone tell me a little more about the setup and whether this could be the noise, does it have guides or a tensioner that could be noisey also ?

I will try and post a video up soon also.

Many many thanks to anyone that can take the time to help me out, as I've already spent a few hundred quid on it to no avail. I'm also going to do another oil and filter change tonight and check for any swarf.
