Proper Way To Use Tar Remover ?

23 March 2015 - 07:21 PM

I've got a lot of tar spots on my 2yrs old ZS and bought some tar remover on a spray can.

However in the instructions on it, it says to:

- Wash the car using their soap (obviously to sell more)

- Spray on the tar remover and let it work for some minutes (can't recall how many)

- Wax the car using their wax - this one is my problem, I can't figure out if it's just to sell more of their stuff, or if the tar remover actually harms the paint enough to need wax right after.

So does anyone know if tar remover is harsh on the paint ?

I haven't dared to use it yet since I'm completely in the dark as to how to wax a car

Is The Zs Lowered More Than The Black Edition?

11 February 2015 - 06:35 PM

I just picked up my brand new Black Edition today and noticed something funny when I got home - it sits slightly higher than my ZS at the rear end.

So I figured I'd measure the difference - measuring from the ground to the highest point of the rear wheel arch (in the center of it really), the ZS measures 62cm (24,41 inches) whereas the Black measures 63,5cm (25 inches)

Both cars are fitted with 195/45-16 tyres, and the tyres on the ZS only did a few thousand miles - they're hardly worn at all, so I figure that's not why.

The tyres of the Black did have a higher pressure, but even after reducing it to its proper pressure, it's still the same.

The only difference between the cars, is the ZS has a spare tire in its boot, but I figure it doesn't weight enough to lower it 15mm.

Now I know the ZS is lowered 15mm compared to the Titanium, but I'm under the impression the Black edition is as well, so I'm thinking my ZS may have worn its shock absorbers more than normal (the ZS is almost 2years old and has only done 11.000 miles)

My questions therefore are:

- Does anyone know if the ZS is in fact lowered more than the Black Edition ?

- Can anyone measure how high their ZS with 16 inch wheels sits ?

I'm having the ZS serviced in 2 weeks from now, and I'll ask them to look at is as well - but I'm thinking they'll probably just shrug it off and say it's nothing - that's why I'm asking here as well :-)

Phone Holder For The Fiesta Mk 7.5

03 February 2015 - 07:36 PM

Does anyone know of a good universal phone holder that'll fit the Fiesta mk 7.5 ?

If not universal, then one that works with Nokia Lumia 930 will be fine too.

I don't want one with a suction cup for the windshield, as they've been made illegal in Denmark (and they tend to leave marks as well)

So i'm thinking something that'll hook onto one of the fan vents, preferably the one near the center console.

Also I'd prefer one that can be purchased on amazon.co.uk, as I'll need to have it delivered to Denmark.

I know I'm being picky, but I hope you'll bear with me :-)

How Do I Clean Small Black Spots Off?

04 January 2015 - 02:02 PM

I just washed my car and noticed a lot of small black spots along the sides of it, mostly concentrated around the wheels.

I figure it's because the car has no mudflaps, but they don't make any for the ZS AFAIK.

Anyway the sides feel very coarse, almost like sandpaper, and there's hundreds of tiny small spots on it.

It looks a bit like the stuff used to undercoat the car (to protect it against rust, cars rust extremely fast in Denmark because we use a lot of salt on the roads during winter)

I've attached a picture of it (don't mind the reflection of me  :D)

So here's the question: How do I get rid of it ? My normal soap and sponge (it has a soft and a coarse side, I've tried both) doesn't do anything towards it.

Prevent Aircon From Enabling Automatically

10 November 2014 - 06:29 PM

My wife has a Ford Ka from 2014 (so brand new really), whenever you set the fans to blow all air onto the windshield, it also enables the aircon.

I'd rather be able to control whether aircon should be on or not myself, so is there anyway to prevent this automatic "feature" ?

I've asked the dealer, but they didn't know  :(
