Ford Focus Brake Master Servo

17 August 2013 - 09:07 AM

Hi Guys

Carrying on from my last post, now completed a diagnostic on the vacuum pump all this seems to working, now testing the servo the pressure builds up to 600mm HG after a minute, (seems a bit slow to me) and when the brake pedal is depressed the pressure drops to about 350-400mm HG then takes a minute again to build up! If the brake pedal is depressed several times the pressure drops to zero.

Is this normal behaviour for a master servo or do you feel this a faulty item. I have changed this with a second hand unit and was a complete nasty job.

Thanks for your assistance in this matter.

Kind regards and drive safe

Vaccum Pump Pressure, Tdci

16 August 2013 - 08:37 AM

Hi Guys and GIrls,

Does anyone know how much pressure should the brake vaccum pump should produce on a Ford Focus TDCI, i'm experiencing major issues with the servo assist brakes, mega hard pedal and limited braking, changed the brake master servo, one way valve, brake hoses and serviced all for calipers. My only thought now! is the vaccum pump producing the correct amount of pressure to assist the servo, there is a little amount of pressure though.

Kind regards

Focus Tdci Brake Issues

05 July 2013 - 10:20 AM

Hi Guys and Girls

Trying to source out some help and some tech info reference my braking system on the Ford Focus MK1 facelift TDCI.

The issue is the hardness of the braking pedal and lack of braking,

I've replaced the Brake Master servo, which was tested and working prior to putting it in, there was no issues with mechanical working of the brake pedal. Brakes bled through and no air in system, and no change to the problem.

I know these have issues with the one way valve coming from the vacum pump so that was replaced, still no change. Next was to replace the vacum pump and master cylinder! system was bled through (again) and still no change! At this point i was scratching my head! next came the calipers...... all four were stripped down and cleaned, checked and replaced. All brake hoses were checked and no issues. This is doing my head in now!

Does anyone know the pressure that these vacum pumps produce???? are there limits, when removed i can feel the pressure from the pump, albeit does not seem too much pressure being created. Maybe the pump is too weak to assist the servo!

The vacum pump was replaced with a second hand unit from a working car, albeit do these pump unit work across the TDDI and TDCI range! When the engine is running the pump unit is very noisy and seems that the piston slaps on the cam shaft.......

Any help would be great! Many thanks Guys and Girls.

Focus Tdci Has No Oil Pressure At All

21 March 2013 - 08:27 AM

Hi People,

Ford focus 1.8 TDCI 02 plate, changed the oil and filter after a head rebuild, started the car up and programmed the injectors, i noticed that the top end was starting to knock a bit, completed a compression test on all cylinders and this was fine, good compression across all four, completed an oil pressure test and noticed that there was no pressure at all.... i mean nothing! i've never seen this before and just wondered if anyone had any idea what could cause this! the oil pump was working fine before the cylinder head removal.

Many thanks.
