#402788 1.8 Tdci Focus Egr Valve

Posted by ben1191 on 28 August 2014 - 09:11 PM

Hi guys, I have a focus 2.0L TDCI, & wonder if it has an Egr valve, if so what would be the benefits if I fitted one, & also what happens to the engine if it has a blanking plate fitted,( like the end of the pipe where the Egr valve is fitted to) sorry but not quite certain what the gain is, & is it legal for MOT's ??. Hope some one can help, brian

It won't affect your
MOT,it makes your emission output improve.what the egr valve does is recirculates the exhaust gasses back through the engine which are dirty, making the engine combust crappy air and anyone with a brain can see that's no good for a car.not really sure what the point of it is to be honest.so blocking it off prevents that, making it use cleaner air instead of recycled air, maintaining parts inside better .

#367516 Top Speed In A 1.8Tdci Mk2?

Posted by ben1191 on 24 May 2014 - 12:24 PM

125? what were the revs showing? on  private track ive not even touched 110 as I wasn't too keen on high revving the diesel engine.
my Leon Cupra did 125 easily on the same track.

They were on around 3500,do you reckon it's been remapped then,I couldn't see it myself as the last owner was a vicar lol

Driving styles, people who don't rev their car now and then will do it more harm than good,it needs a good clear out now and again.

Ill be honest, you could do just as good a job making that sub enclosure yourself, the cuts dont even need to be laser like they say,the carpet will hide it an anyway.Few bits of MDF and an hours time wouldnt cost you anywhere near 75 quid lol

In the description it does say 2005-2011,not everybody calls them mk2.5.

It's in the top right corner, the bulb was already in there but as I opened the actual case up it all fell out and it took me a while to put it back right lol

#355641 Air Suction Sound Under Acceleration

Posted by ben1191 on 21 April 2014 - 04:11 PM

Found the split and sorted it by putting a layer of wax/glue from a proper glue gun, used some super glue to help close it then put another layer of wax glue ontop to seal it,wrapped electrical tape around it then a bit of gaffa.fixed for now.ImageUploadedByFord OC1398096048.574657.jpg ImageUploadedByFord OC1398096060.230196.jpg

The split was hidden from view, and because it was right next to the moving belts there was no way of feeling the air escaping either.

I really do not understand how people on this forum manage to get such low mpg,I can only put it down to your poor driving styles and doing 80 down the motorways. I can get 70mpg sitting on 55/60 down motorways,60mpg on a roads and going at the corners with it.even if I'm spanking it down A and B roads Etc I'll still get 50mpg.i get around 45-50 in city.

My mother that uses the car seems to get 35mpg on the same routes I can get 45-50 on.its all in the driving styles.
