yeah it should be fine. basically you have 3 pins sticking out from the end if the shaft. and 3 big wheels that sit on those pins. Those wheels rotate on roller bearings which are cylindrical. Basically clean it all up so its spot less.


Then fill a wheel with rollers and then shove some fresh grease in there and put it on the pin, do the same for the other two.

the fill the drive cup with the rest of the grease, and then sit cup on top of the rebuilt shaft assembly then using some cable ties fasten the boot back up and refit to the car.

Thats programmed into the ecu to hold the revs momentarily when changing gear. Apparently Ford cant trust us to change gear smoothly so they do it for us

Yes trying the old tensioner might be an idea. Ive had one on a mk1 focus replaced the lot and it vibrated like mad so put the new pulley on the old tensioner = fixed LOL

If its not rattling when you switch off the DMF is fine. But I would still recommend a clutch while your in there. 


Release bearings make this kind of noise, is noisy when no load on them but shut up when you depress the pedal. Im a technician with over 20 years experience and this is my bread and butter.


Parts for the clutch and bearing your only looking about £100-£150 from a parts factor. and to fit its a 6 hour job because the gearbox has to come off.


Dont be too dis-heartened its just generalwear and tear its not a sign of other serious issues

I race RC cars and you can guarantee a second hand engine on ebay has "only seen a gallon of fuel" when infact its run for two seasons and is baggy as a wizards sleeve. Hence the term "Ebay Gallon"

Righto piccy time!! just to recap, ive welded plates on all the holes. Seam sealed all the joints, also seam sealed the joints where the cargo bay panels join to stop water ingress (not done at factory) I've fully undersealed the cargo area and rear crossmember. 

Also ive wire brushed all the rust from inside the cab and engine bay, treated the rust with rust remover, and zinc primed the problem sots inside the cab and under the front arches. Engine bay has had first coat of Rosso red. Not bothered priming and painting under here as its generally red anyway, so just a light tickle with the emery paper and straight on with the colour. I will give it another coat tomorrow, and then when I shoot the body itll get another coat. So will be a nice deep glossy red.

No matter how many times Ive told and proven to people that they are shat, theres always some knob in a burberry cap that thinks otherwise.

scorpion are probably the best pound for pound back box. A nice 2 1/2" rolled tail pipe will look and sound the nuts on a fizzy. Anything bigger and itll just look daft and have the rozzers hunting you down. Subtlety is the key word for young lads in fast cars. But the scorp do sound nice when nailing it but are plenty quiet should you need to blend in (if you know what I mean)


with a filter and back box your prolly looking at a 8-12bhp increase just by bolting them on due to the engine being more efficient. Youll also find its better on fuel too!

Short and simple answer dont bother. You will get less power, less mpg and devalue your car. Because 1 look at a cane filter and people with think its been chavved.


My advise as a professional mechanic AND motorsports engine tuner, get a high capacity panel filter to replace the standard filter. Youll get real gains and not just noise and chav appeal

OE ford/Motorcraft or NGK are what I always recommend to my customers. You wont get any performance increase, but the best for reliability are Ford/Motorcraft or NGK

I'm new to this and would like your comments on the car that I now own. 1988 Granada Scorpio 4x4, full manufacturers RS body skirting and RS suspension, 18,000 genuine miles from new, black body with full tan leather interior. I have all of the MOTs as it was owned by my Dad from 6 months old. Has been garaged for years, hence low mileage. Anyone know how I find out how many of these were made and any idea of the value?
