Focus 06 Plate 1.6 Tdci

20 June 2013 - 11:15 AM

Hi all,

I don't know my way around a Diesel Engine and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of the glow plugs. The car is going in tomorrow for an Diesel Particle Filter (DPF) Regen but the local garage is fearful of snapping the glow plugs when removing them as they had the same problem on another Focus.

I was going to soak them in WD40 best I could today and have also been advised that it is best to try removing them when the engine is at full temp. I don't have the time to do the glow plugs myself but just trying to ensure I don't end up with a huge garage bill for removing the head to get the sheared plugs out.

I have attached a pic of the engine and I have circled what I believe is the injectors. Any help would be grateful. Perhaps another pic or annotate mine would be great

Thanks in advance.

Engine Warning Fault Remains With New Fuel Filter

27 May 2013 - 06:02 PM

Hi all,

I have just replaced the fuel filter on an 06 Focus 1.6 TDCi as I had a Engine warning Fault and associated static red led. I have since got the car running after a lot of effort but initially after I got it going, the light disappeared, but after about 5 mins the warning and light re-appeared.

Anyone got any further suggestions before I hand it to the expensive 'Technicians'

regards

AliG

Focus 06 Plate Tdci Ghia 1.6 - Fuel Filter

24 May 2013 - 09:49 AM

Hi I replaced my Fuel Filter yesterday and followed all the instructions as per the Haynes Manual see Stoney871's posting at

http://www.fordowner...ci-fuel-filter/

Since then I have not been able to get it started.

Please note that the fuel filter is the one that fits next to the battery (please note the differences between the 1.6 and the 1.8...mine is a 1.6 with the sensor in a silver metal can like container).

Anyway, run the battery down trying to get it started so called the RAC in a bid to get it going. (Had to be careful not to mention I had replaced the filter). He advised there was a fuel problem....amazing... but said that it appeared my fuel pump was not working.

He disconnected the inlet at the fuel filter and said when I turned the ignition on, I should hear the fuel pump running in the tank and fuel should be pumped through to the inlet pipe but there was nothing coming through.

We checked the relays and the fuses etc....all good.

After him giving up, I done a bit more googling and have read in various places there is no fuel pump in the tank, but also read contrary to this, so not sure which is correct. I have also read I need to to tow start it to get it going.

Anyone have any information regarding the fuel pump and/or getting it started...I still think it is a fuel filter problem??

Thanks in advance.
