I've tried the torque pro app on my phone, but I didn't find it very good. Can anyone recommend a cheapish live data scanner that is decent and will help solve this issue

Yeah there's loads of different types to choose from. Think I got mine off Amazon as it was cheap. Probably next time I will get some that you spray down the air vents.

I used the car pride air conditioning bomb. Very overpowering after the car was done. Very citrusy

Yeah I saw the arrow when installing the new one. Also had an air con cleaning can that works like a bomb under the rear seat. It's a citrus scented one but that too had made the car smell nice and new again.

Only problem is that the car has lost its ford smell. Can't explain it but every ford I have owned. Has that unique ford smell. Bizarre I know

Today I change the cabin filter on my 2010 mk2.5 focus. And it was a nightmare.

Why on earth did ford think a serviceable item like a cabin filter needs to be right in the guts of the car behind the centre dashboard.

Had to remove half if the car to get to it via the passenger footwear.

Also I will assume it's never been replaced on my 4 year old car before as it was thick black and disgusting.

I'm. Thinking it was worth while changing as I couldn't see how any air could even pass through the filter.

I have attached a photo to show how bad it is. Can't believe how dirty it was.

Replaced it with a bosch filter for 12 quid from eurocarparts.

#383495 Car Book In For Terraclean Service... Excited!

Posted by ZetecShearer1987 on 08 July 2014 - 12:06 PM

Hi

I have had the terraclean service done this morning, at my local garage, which was Autotech Garage Services, in melbourne, derbyshire.

What can i say apart from wow. What a difference this has made to my car.

Firstly when i arrived, the owner Roger, talked me through the whole process of what it all does and how it improves each part of the engine, he then asked me if i had any issues with the car relating to the engine.

It took around 1 hour to do, he also hooked up an ecu scan tool to show all live date from each of the sensors. the 02 sensor behind the cat wasnt reading any data prior to the terraclean and the other sensors were not properly reading or were unable to get an accurate reading.

He then started the service and after around 5 mins of the terraclean... the 2nd o2 started picking up data again slowly until it was back to normal. RESULT also the other 2 sensors were getting much better reads which was very promising.

also adding to this, the floor under my exhaust pipe was turning a dark black with all the carbon deposits.

After the service, he connected up all the fuel lines and stuff, and straight away the car sounded so much more quiet on idle, quite a remarkable difference really, also the exhaust sound muched smoother and crisper.

And the drive home was an absolute joy, much more torque and smoother acceleration, and even better mpg

I cant rate this service high enough, i will defo be having it done once a year at the autotech garage.

Yeah will give my overall experience it's done hassen . My cars only 4 years old with 50 k on the clock. I use branded fuel. And the car gets an oil flush on each service too. So I'm hoping the fuel system will clean up properly and hopefully get an even better driving experience, though its a great experience now

#367359 Prestone Screen Wash - Utter Crap

Posted by ZetecShearer1987 on 23 May 2014 - 08:14 PM

I recently brought some of this prestone all seasons screen wash after reading some impressive reviews on auto express and it has won awards.

I then saw some on sale in my local tesco's for £3, and i thought i need to try some for that price. I normally use autoglym screen wash which is really good though its not ready mixed.

Anyway my bottle ran empty the other day and i couldnt wait to try some of this prestone stuff.

I ran the pump so it sprayed onto my window and it cleaned ok, nothing spectacular, but it has one major floor, one it looks like p*ss when it comes out of the washer jet and when it runs down the cars paintwork, it dries yellow onto the car, my car is silver and it looks like someone has wizzed up it.

I cant believe an item that is supposed to be this good could leave a staining yellow colour on the bonnet and rear boot.

Never will buy it again

Thought i would warn any potential people wanting to buy this stuff. DONT.

#359318 Cataclean Or Terraclean

Posted by ZetecShearer1987 on 02 May 2014 - 03:18 PM

Hi all

I have recently purchased a bottle of cataclean to sort out my catalytic converter as i do short town journeys and i feel cataclean would benefit the engine and exhaust.

Is it best to use the cataclean with 1/4 tank of petrol and "italian tune-up" the car or drive normally.

My indication is to thrash it to blow all the crap out the engine. (once the car has warmed up)

Also has anyone tried terraclean as an option and how much would that cost to have done.

Plus are there any decent terraclean garages near burton-on-trent, so either staffordshire or derbyshire.

true, might go with some pertronas stuff then, if its good enough for lewis hamilton then its good enough for my 1.6 focus, funily enough the same size engine as the current f1 cars, minus 2 cylinders and around 700bhp less.

#331145 Spark Plug Recomedations

Posted by ZetecShearer1987 on 10 February 2014 - 06:03 PM

Hi again, today i have purchased some ngk iridium spark plugs, the correct part number is 4344. They cost me £10 each from my local motormania plus a little discount aswell.

Anyway i have fitted them and also used some copper grease and di-electric grease on the leads and WOW what a difference, smooth as silk now, the old plugs i removed were only 5 months old and were genuine ford plugs from my local ford dealer, they looked very good with no damage or fouling to any of the plugs.

I have gone down the route of trying the whole "its better to use FORD parts to fixed any ignition issues"

i have tried all of that to no avail long term, i just hope now that this will finally solve my acceleration issue and intermittant lack of power with a rough engine.

I would reccomend to anyone who is having similar issues and has tried all the changing of leads and coil packs, to give these plugs a shot.
