#401407 Focus Mk2.5 Rear Arch Rusting?

Posted by theduke on 25 August 2014 - 06:17 AM

Looks like some lessons learnt here. If it was me I would challenge the 12 year corrosion policy and claim a design fault of the bodywork to allow crud to collect in this area making it repairable under the warranty. My wife's KA was fixed by Fords after an altercation with another car and the job was 100% top notch.

In that case ford were getting paid for it tho, Checking my service book and theres one missed service stamp and only one body and paint check stamp its probably going to take forever to get them to do it and for the sake of about £30 worth of materials and a lot of my time I am going to attempt it myself.

Ive painted wing mirrors and some engine dressing parts which turned out pretty dam good if I do say so myself in the past lol (and its a bit of extra practice before I get a zetec S kit for xmas :D  )

Wouldnt have bothered flooring it just eggs the pratts on, I leave them to find a ditch or a lampost on there own they usually do and theres less chance of them taking you out aswell

Just incase anyone does remove it be careful not to disturb the bonnet lock had squeeky bum time earlier when i couldnt open it but thanks to the guide section its sorted now phew!..on the plus side ive modified the the resonator to become a scoop and im averaging 0.5 mpg up on what i used to get its no quicker but sounds it lol

Thats lot i didnt know about it lol!
But it does sound better, feels the same power wise (i still have very little) 10x better than a dreaded induction kit heat soak wise and gives that bit of extra noise you would expect

Overall a good compromise for me anyway

Cree/Led ones are much brighter, Dont buy the ones with multiple leds as they fail pretty quickly and as said theyre fiddly to change i greased the light fitting so it would come out easier next time if needed

Posted by theduke on 08 July 2014 - 07:46 PM

Just had a little play with my car I already have a K&N panel filter which makes no difference in noise or performance if im honest, But behind the front grill theres a huge v shaped resonator with an open end the other side of the grill I removed the screws/plugs from the grill and surround enough to get access to the resonator and gently pulled up and off it popped from two rubber grommets put it all back together and theres a fair bit of induction roar now :)

Dont know if its been done before but thought id share and its a free mod than anyone with a screwdriver can do, Mines a mk2.5 dont know if the other mk's are the same though
