Mk1 Suspension

18 March 2014 - 03:18 PM

Hey guys Looking to replace the suspension on my 01 plate Focus. The old girl needs some top plate and strut mount repairs but all the springs are corroded so I'm thinking of getting the whole lot replaced. I'm thinking of maybe taking this opportunity to fit lowering springs too. Has anyone got any recommendations? I've been told that the rear units are difficult to replace and may require some parts to be broken to get into it. The price difference I've been given is £106 per front and £160 per rear does this sound about right?

Help Identifying Wheel Locking Nut Type

15 December 2013 - 02:36 PM

Hi guys

I've been a bit of a lemon and have lost the wheel locking nut key for my alloys. I want to get a replacement however I am having trouble tracking down the exact one I need. I don't know the wheel manufacturer but I will give an image of the logo on the wheels and the nut itself.

My best guess so far is that it is a McGard nut but what kind I have no idea.

Thanks for any help guys!

Running Power For A Sub - Focus Mk1

14 December 2013 - 08:38 PM

Hi guys.

I'm fitting a sub to my 2001 plate (pre facelift) focus and I'm at that stage of deciding how to run the power cables. It seems the two ways I could go is running the cable in the same hole the main loom takes but I can't see how to get to that, or drill a hole in the wheel arch.

I am wondering if there is a third way- possibly run the cable off of a spare space in the fuse box behind the glove box. Is this a nutty idea?

Which rout would you say was the best?

Rust On My 2001 Focus

08 October 2013 - 01:59 PM

Hi guys I just went to get some quotes on some rust I have on the inside edge of the rear wheel arch. The first guys (Smart car UK) said £175 + VAT. The second said over £300 and that it would not go away, probably come back in less than a year. I'm just wondering, do I go for the first guys and get it fixed up with it probably coming back or should I go get some paint and cover it myself then hope for the best? Winter is coming up and I don't want it made so much worse by grit- the paint has peeled there you see. Thanks for any advice guys!

Reccomendations For Uprated Audio In 2001 Focus

04 July 2013 - 10:22 AM

Hi guys I have to start by saying I know pretty much zero about car audio. I'm just looking for recommendations on where to start in uprating the audio of my Focus. It already had a nice after-market head unit when I got it but I find the speakers are all high-end with little in the low and bass end. Are there any decent speakers out there you can recommend that I can swap the stocks for too give me more bass? Or is this going to involve some kind of complicated amp and sub set up? If so is it possible to get small, discrete subs rather than the huge, showy ones? I kind of like my boot space :D A little research shows that the car takes 6x9 speakers in the front and 5x7 in the back. Thanks for any help guys?
