Yes they will be LED as after googling, i can just tape up to an led (will use footwell one to try) and it will glow. Just any light source that can bounce along the fibre will generate lighting.

Going to give a go and see how it works. BMW i8 interior style .. Hmm

Fantastic! Cheers lenny. Very helpful but it looks that unfortunately the iphone5 is about a cm and half bigger so doubt it would fit. Back to the drawing board i think lol

Can anybody supply the rough measurements for the ST pod hood? I want to see if my iphone 5 would fit without having to chop the dash.

Got mine today.. Off ebay from mk7 2010 fiesta.

Fits like a glove.. Flick out old black one and push in new silver one - simple as that. The fiesta knob was hard textured plastic and my current one was leather so left the leather one in.

Tempted to colour code the black edging to same colour as car as it was plain black instead of chrome like old one.

Also did a little test.. turns out the new car DOES have deadlocking, but the indicators Just don't flash to confirm which is annoying. If someone could confirm the GEM Isnt coded to ANY other components then I'll swap it over. (

Dont quote me on it but i dont see swapping over the GEM would upset anything else. Maybe try it and if it does, swap it back. From memory, i think the GEM acts like a RAM or processor kinda thing.
Another thing to try first is remove the fuse and relays for central locking and put them back, could need a little reset. Also when you do that, you may have to reprogramme your keyfob. Have the owners manual to hand - im sure there are guides on the internet for reprogramming.

Fair play. The forum is proberbly just as resourceful as a haynes manual, if not better!

I have this feeling in back of my mind that the GEM is behind glovebox but i could be wrong.
Is there a way of doing it with pressing combinations on remote fob maybe? Should be instructions in owners manual. Will try find out for you.

Are the spoilers adhered on or screwed, do you know??

Probably wouldn't bother with side skirts as speedbumps would destroy them in days.. Especially if I go lower[/quote]

Most spoilers are stuck on with tiger seal or stickaflex (3m double sided car body tape) but if you fancy extra peace of mind and security, prob best to drill holes and bolt it on.

Hows the handbrake looking mate?

Is the Apple adapter you purchased; the USB & Media port cable?
My wife has an iPhone 4S so I've fitted the Apple loom to the centre console,
Or have you gone all out mirror link where your iPhone is fully functional on screen?

As for the reverse camera,
Pioneer released a firmware update which solves some reverse camera glitches,
See link:
http://www.pioneer.e...ml#download_429

I presume you have it connected via the BC input (brown socket) not the yellow AV input,

The camera takes a minute to display when reversing,

I suggest fitting an auto relay to the trailer loom if possible,
I can work with you on this later tonight when i get time,
This will need no switch and automatically deactivate reverse camera when trailer is fitted,

My camera is a bit fizzy at times,
But i didn't earth to body i earthed to reverse loom so that is probably the issue.

Thanks for comments,
Its bright now so im going back out to install,
Talk to you later

Updated to latest firmwire and still the same.
I have my mobius connected to video in and back cam to brown like you said. My old sony headunit i could just tap rearcam icon and view th cam with music still playing. But this unit it doesnt seem to have that option? Maybe will have to use a "Y" splitter and use in video out port - can switch between front and rear that way? I also use the rear cam for parking too and to watch tailgaters lol.

Got the genuine apple hdmi to lightning adaptor which will try next week to mirror screen - allows internet browsing, location sending to friends n family etc, and more. Car play is limited but still great!

How you finding the headunit? Still learning mine haha.
