Afternoon all,

 

I'm after a few suggestions on how to spruce up the interior of my MK2.5 focus, without going for the usual mods such as gel badges and vinyl steering wheel coverings.

 

Need to see if I have the holders for footwell bulbs first but if anyone has any other ideas that'll be great. :)


Droning From Engine At 1800Rpm Or More...

Hi all,

 

Got the car booked in with local Ford dealer next week to have a strange droning noise coming from the engine when it reaches 1800rpm. This usually carries on until about 3000rpm at which point the engine is too noisy and drowns the noise out. This noise can occur even when the car is standing still so hopefully not gearbox related.

 

Engine is a DV6 1.6TDCi with about 57,000 miles on it. I'm just wondering if there's a sort of common failure that causes this noise? The drone isn't deafening but to me it sounds like there's intake pressure escaping from somewhere.


Accelerator Lacking Progression

This is a weird one...

 

My accelerator pedal lacks progression and the turbo is kicking in too late. For the first 30% of travel or so I get a decent amount of power, but when I demand more power right through to the pedal stop there is no change in the rate of acceleration. The turbo feels like its spooling up too late as well because it kicks in at around 2500rpm.

 

This issue is most apparent in 3rd, 4th and in-gear acceleration at 5th is slower than it used to be. I can't hear any boost pressure being lost either so I have no idea what's causing it.

 

It's a 1.6tdci (DV6) engine.


Slow Acceleration In Turbo Range...

Evening all,

 

***1.6TDCI DV6 engine***

 

I seem to have a strange problem. Let's say I'm in 3rd gear and I put my foot down, I get the initial acceleration from the torque of the engine up to around 2000rpm and then going from 2000 to 3000rpm is a little on the slow side. I have also noticed that the pedal is quite sensitive for the first 5-10 mm of travel and you get a fair bit of power from the engine, but if I put my foot right to the floor on WOT it just doesn't feel like the throttle is opening all the way. 

 

Does it sound like I need my throttle body and throttle pedal to be re-learnt? I can't hear any whooshing noises from the engine either, so it seems like all of the pipes for turbo forced induction are OK.

Evening all,

 

Today I got new number plates made and fitted by Arnold Clark, it was only when they removed the rear plate did they notice the huge mistake the previous owner/PDI centre must've made...

The number plate was held on by screws that had been drilled through the tailgate, and not attached properly by the factory mounts that came with the car!!!

Where do I stand with this? The car was bought used from a dealer about 8 months ago, and previous to that it was a Hertz hire car. 

I simply cannot comprehend how insanely stupid one must be to fit number plates by drilling through the car's bodywork! As as a result the tailgate has been compromised and will most likely rust due to the holes in it.
