#437387 Jump Sarting Vehicle Using Jump Leads

Posted by MattDRX on Yesterday, 10:12 AM

When I worked for Renault many moons ago we used to use a 3.0V6 Diesel Espace to jump everything, cars used to go flat on the forecourt all the time and this was the only car that never went flat,

Never killed any Meganes, most fragile motor on earth, not that I know of anyway, warranty queue was about 15 miles long lol

#437192 Stupid Question Time - Usb Adapters

Posted by MattDRX on 16 December 2014 - 05:02 PM

Personally I wouldn't bother with the cable. the battery on them lasts a good few hours, spare ones cost nothing as well.

Also I think they are Li-ION Batteries, which don't tend to take well to trickle charging ( basically being left in on charge the whole time and not depleting ) it's why most Laptop Batteries die after a year.

I'm no Mobius expert by any means, but I think plugging the USB in puts it into PC mode and that may be why it's not working in the car, unsure, others on here have them and will correct me I'm certain of that.

But batteries for them are about £7 last time I checked on Joovu, £4.90 ONLY currently, maybe + VAT and Delivery etc but it's dirty cheap, just stock up on them. can never have enough batteries.

#437135 Fuel Pump Self Fill

Posted by MattDRX on 16 December 2014 - 10:46 AM

Standard pretty much everywhere in the US, some modern BP pumps do this, have a red button / trigger thing, fill with fuel and depress red thing whilst squeezing and it'll stay filling when you let go.

Mines always done that via usb. Remove and reconnect and works fine 2nd time every time and only that way. No one at Ford knows why

#436920 What To Buy For A Car Dealer?

Posted by MattDRX on 15 December 2014 - 01:28 PM

^ that ban is usually B2B and pre sale "gifts" or Bribes as they are otherwise known as, no harm in rewarding great service at all, especially not in the retail / motor trade when it very seldom happens.

#436024 Whats It Worth? Modified 58 Plate Ford Fiesta St

You don't get 2k if you strip the bodies and ecu and then about 3 if you make it standard. Best bet tbf you'll only get some superdry wearing hoodrat turn up to look at it anyway.

Willy to the rescue. It has been enabled now, not needed but a touch relived it isn't a fault that could end in a lot of pain for me. Cheers dude.

#433832 Unfit To Drive/drunk In Charge Of A Vehicle

No sorry I was just asking out of morbid curiosity. Hotel has a car park and staying there its only a 5 min walk 15 min stagger if walking diagonally. Just curious as to how far it extends.

#433261 Spiderman's Prank

Oh seen, yeah just gas it with any Fly killer and it'll kill it off, I had one for a few months once called George, we were friends once until he tried to come into the car when I was doing 60odd then we had words and he was made to leave, but he was nothing compared to some of the evil things you get over there.

#433258 Car Tracking Device

Posted by MattDRX on 01 December 2014 - 02:57 PM

Get an RAC Trackstar sticker, you wouldn't nick a car with that on it, it's the only one that truly works, unless the car is encased in PB or Thorium or something.

Mate of mine used to remove the battery on his Evo when he went on holiday, he used to get people try and nick it all the time ( Evo 6 tommy Mak edition ) and taking the battery off seemed to have made it go away, think thieves opened the car thinking Hazar and then ooooh no it just won't ever start.
