clutch pedal spring

04 November 2009 - 06:56 PM

hi, i'll try to explain this as best i can. my 52 mondeo tdci had to have the flywheel , clutch and starter motor replaced in september, today i got in the car and the clutch pedal went straight to the floor!, i rang the garage that fixed it , and straight away he said it will be your clutch release bearing, i said how can you assume that without even looking at the car, and why had you not replaced it at the time. so alarm bells started ringing, so i had a quick look through the haynes manual and it states that the clutch pedal spring could cause this, i took off the panel above the pedals to have a look at it it, and it is not there, and ive looked everywhere, footwell , etc, now either the haynes manual is wrong or my clutch pedal did not have a spring on, surely it should have a spring on the pedal, the pedal moves up and down freely, its not jammed, sooo what i would like to ask is : does the mondeo actually have a clutch spring pedal, and is it possible to drive the car without one, i can honestly say that the spring broken or otherwise is no where to be seen, im really confused on this, any advice would help, as i don't want to be ripped off again. many thanks craig

wheel balancing on the car

08 April 2009 - 08:19 PM

when i had my escort and upgraded to alloys and no matter how many garages i took it to , the alloys although balanced correctly, the car would never stop vibrating at 50mph -60mph , until one mentioned about getting the wheels balanced on the car. it was rare back then , and it took along time to find someone who still did it, i did find one and it used to be an 80 mile round trip to get it done.
when they balanced them on the car it drove great, and ive always wondered why it would make a difference like that, is it actually better to balance wheels on the car , there must be something else that would be getting balanced out also when its done, why is it not done anymore and did anybody else use to have this done , if not then just ignore me as a stupid old f*rt

hi, just bought my mondeo and when i was changing the oil and filter i noticed this split in this hose , as i am just getting familar with the mondeo's i'd like to know what it is so i can claim under my warranty, i've sealed it up for now, the car was intermittently jerking , but this has stopped since i sealed the split , so if somebody can tell me , that would be great. thanks
