Clutch Vibrations

03 March 2010 - 10:47 PM

What is considered an acceptable level of vibration felt through the clutch pedal from a Focus TDCi and/or TDDi ?? No vibration or a tingling to the foot?

I had a solid flywheel conversion done to replace a failed DMF but now the car is very irritating to drive as vibrations are felt though the clutch pedal when depressing it, in the form of cyclic piston stroke vibrations. Driving the car in heavy traffic for more than 10 mins tends to leave my foot feeling a bit wierd (the clutch pedal seems to move slightly as the vibrations are so strong).

Is this normal for a diesel engine with a solid flywheel? Or is this result of an ill fitted flywheel/clutch/conversion kit?

I've never felt vibrations through the clutch pedal before in any petrol of diesel cars I've driven in the past nor my TDCi with a screwed DMF!

Thanks

Dmf V's Solid Flywheel

20 February 2010 - 09:41 AM

I would be interested to know peoples experiences.

Has anybody had a solid flywheel fitted to their Ford Focus TDCi after their DMF failed. I am considering this as the garage says they have done this on Transit vans with barely any difference in clutch vibrations/feel.

Bizare Rattle !?

10 February 2010 - 01:41 PM

Hello people!

I've had my 2003 1.8 tdci focus for nearly a year now and apart from having to clean up the EGR valve to stop stuttering, I have had no further problems (still touching wood as we speak!).

However, since Monday my car has started to develop an interesting and irritating noise.

Nearly everytime the clutch peddle is pressed to the floor there is a rattle and grinding noise coming from the engine bay which is not really that noticabale standing outside of the car. This noise does not occur noticeable when idling in neutral nor when a gear is selected and the clutch is engaged. When the engine is warm it only seems to happen intermittently at junctions when the clutch is pressed down.

It sounds as if there is something loose in and around the clutch plate region....has anybody else has a similar story? DMF??

Thanks :)

Aftermarket rain sensors

Hi all

Has anyone ever bought an aftermarket rain sensor module from Rain Tracker (via USA or Brussels) and fitted it to their car?

If so is it worth buying??

Thanks

revs blip/increase with throttle release

05 July 2009 - 02:44 PM

Hello everyone.

Does anyone know the official reason why a 1.8 durotorque engine would repeatedly increase in revs slightly i.e 2000 to 2100 when changing gear whilst accelerating!?!

Only I have seen reasons on Vauxhall and Nissan forums saying it's because the temperature of the Cat nedds to be maintained high to allow for lower emissions. Seen other reasons suggesting it's to ease deceleration. It's !Removed! annoying that's all I can say and has been noticable 1 week after purchase.

Can anyone confirm these reasons to be true or is the car gonna have to go back already for ECU or DMF modifications???

Sorry but don't know much about Focus Diesels.....

Thanks
