Farewell And Thanks For All Your Help In The Past

13 May 2011 - 06:07 AM

As the title says, I'm leaving the FOC and I just wanted to thank everyone for the help I've received and for the information I've got from the forum in general.

Why did I get rid of the Focus?

1. It was too big for my needs really. I needed a load space that would take my fishing tackle and the estate did this ok but I always felt that the generous cabin space made the car too big and too heavy with a knock-on affect to the performance and fuel consumption. Now, if Ford made a Fiesta estate...
2. The frequent need to buy replacement wheel caps - the blue oval centre disc must have been stuck on with flour paste I think.
3. Hard to clean allow wheels. Ghia owners will know what I mean.
4. The seats attracted dust something rotten. Perhaps the fabric they used was not an anti-static variety?
5. Poor kickdown. It was like bad turbo lag without the turbo.
6. I fancied a change.

Apart from the above, it was a fine car.

Cheerio.

Timing Belt Or Chain?

The topic title says it all really. Does my Duratec 2.0 petrol engine have a belt or a chain?

Thanks.

How Do I Remove Dash Top Storage Compartment?

07 November 2010 - 09:40 AM

Hi. My Focus is a Ghia model so it has a top of the dashboard storage compartment. The latching mechanism has broken and I need to replace the cover and the latch itself. However, to get to these the large panel in which the storage compartment is located has to come out but I can't see how. Can anyone tell me how to remove this panel or is it going to be a garage job?

Thanks.

Can't Open Cubby Hole On Top Of Dashboard

28 September 2010 - 04:31 PM

The title says it all really. I've pressed, pushed, nudged, thumped, sworn, cursed and still the lid won't open. Is there a secret spot that needs to be pressed perhaps?

Excessive Dust/lint On Seats

11 September 2010 - 09:39 AM

My car has standard cloth seats and since I acquired the car I have been experiencing an excessive buildup of dust/lint whatever on the seats. It is the driver seat that is most affected but the rear seats (seldom used) seem free of it. I'm wondering if the aircon is somehow charging the air and thereby the dust which then makes it adhere to the fabric. It's damn annoying and unsightly. I live in a flat so can't get a mains-powered vacuum to give it a good regular brushing and my battery-powered dustbuster soon runs out of oomph.

Does anyone else have this problem? Have you found a way to solve it? If yes, then please tell me.
