Chelsea AutoLegends, the unique celebration of stylish automotive and motorsport heritage at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, is back for its third year in 2012. The event that has wowed aficionados and casual visitors alike will take place on Sunday 2nd September and is expected to see more than 15,000 people descend on the grounds of the Royal Hospital to view a collection of over 500 cars, motorcycles and racing vehicles.
As well as the usual celebration of cars, motorcycles and automotive endeavour, themes this year include Stars’ Cars, 70s Cool as well as Le Mans and Formula 1 tributes. Successful female motor racers will be the centre of attention in the Fast Ladies area, while the Restoration Corner and Techno Park initiatives will take vistors from the past and into the future of the automotive world.
Chelsea Auto Legends’ organiser Max Wakefield said to us that he is very excited about this year’s event:
“From Formula One down, Britain houses some of the best engineers and builders of race-cars and race businesses in the world. The industry creates employment for both practical and academic minds, for individual craftsmen and multimillion pound companies. It is the passion of enthusiasts and the focused admiration of spectators. Our brilliance in this field should be shouted from the rooftops and heard by the many – and, where better to do this than the capital city and The Royal Hospital?
“We’re thrilled to be returning to the home of the Chelsea Pensioners for the third annual Chelsea AutoLegends and look forward to presenting a mouth-watering arrayof some of the most beautiful cars in the world to both new and returning visitors. Come September, the grounds of the Hospital will be alive to the sight, smell and sound of over 500 highly sought-after collectors’ cars, representing much of the past and present of the British motorsport and automotive arenas. We hope our passion for all things automotive comes through in what will be the most exciting Chelsea AutoLegends in its brief history but we are confident that, again, we have raised the stakes even further.”
Major General Peter Currie CBE, The Royal Hospital, said:
“It’s marvellous to hear that the Chelsea AutoLegends is back again this year. We all enjoyed it so much last year and look forward to September’s fiesta of fun, Ferraris and fashion...”
