Ford has at last unveiled the new look Fiesta this week in Amsterdam.

The Fiesta has been Ford's biggest selling car for the last four years and thanks to the updated facial features I can't see that stopping somehow.

The long and short of it is the new Fiesta looks awesome!

There is a new front bumper where the grille, which is mirrored on the new Mondeo, has a bit of an Aston Martin look about it which is never be a bad thing.

Other changes include revised front headlights, new lines on the bonnet adding to it's more aggressive look and daytime LED running lights.

But the beauty of this new Fiesta is not only skin deep.

There is a raft of engine and technological changes coming in with the facelift.

The Fiesta is set to get Ford's revolutionary 1.0 litre Ecoboost engine which made it's debut earlier this year in the new Focus.

Since then it has gained massive critical acclaim thanks to it's 120bhp and ability to return more than 55mpg on a combined cycle.

And that fuel economy is in the Focus, a bigger, heavier car than the new Fiesta so now you can expect to get around 60-70mpg from an engine which delivers power close to Ford's old 1.8 Duratec petrol.

The Fiesta will have two power ratings for the 1.0 litre Ecoboost, 99bhp and 118bhp.

Of course the biggest engine arrival for the new Fiesta won't be coming till next year and that will be the 1.6 litre, 177bhp Ecoboost engine in the new Fiesta ST.

This facelift model shares a lot with the ST that was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show last March and so surely it is a prelude to the car Fiesta fans have been waiting for for a very long time.

The new Fiesta will also benefit from new technology including Fords SYNC voice control and Ford's new MyKey system.

MyKey allows you to configure the allowed top speed, the maximum audio volume and will mute the radio until seat belts are clicked into place.

It can also make sure that driver aids can't be turned off at any point so this is all very good news for parents buying their kids their first car but don't want them turning into boy (or girl) racers.

Ford will be unveiling more details of the new look Fiesta at the Paris Motor Show at the end of this month with deliveries due to start on 1st January 2013 and the ST arriving two months later.

We can't wait for either!
