Silverstone Classic 2013: classic touring car racers on track
Saloon car racing also has always had massive appeal in this country. The British Touring Car Championship can trace its roots the late 1950s and ever since motorsport fans have never lost their hunger for watching racing versions of everyday showroom models being driven bumper-to-bumper at seemingly impossible speeds and angles. Adding to the attraction, the saloon car scene is often as close as motor racing comes to being a contact sport… and a few spills only add to the thrills.
Celebrating our coveted touring car history, the packed programme at this summer’s Silverstone Classic includes the biggest ever turn-out of saloon car racers – for the first time the schedule includes three classic touring car grids, all featuring 50-car entries.
