This is a manual non-ABS model and the engine performance/general performance is without issue.  All that's evident is that the Speedo is not working and the odometer display is not showing numerals (Just a series of dashes "- - - - - -").

I have conducted the instrument cluster self-test from both the cluster button itself and by using OBD Forscan software.  Test showed that where there should be Speedo and Tacho needles performing a full sweep (full scale deflection), the speedo needle moves from "0" to hard left, anticlockwise (into minus area).

No warning lights are illuminated.

I installed a new genuine Ford Speedo VSS (1087540), checked the following, and my findings were:
- Correct voltages on +ve feed (3)
- Connection to GND (1) - 0 ohms
- Continuity from the VSS connector's signal output pin (2) [Blue/White wire] - 0 ohms
- Checked signal output on scope and found a good square waveform at correct voltage (so no issue with trigger wheel).  In summary, all OK

The above issue has happened briefly, intermittently, over about 3 years, but is now a full time fault.

Symptoms were intermittent, but are now constantly present.  The apperance of the fault didn't seem to have a pattern/obvious trigger.

The fault codes below were shown by Forscan while using an ELM 327 USB cable.

FYI, ECU Testing has just tested the instrument cluster and found it to be without issue - Job ref:160.......
