Is it possible to add an Ecoboost turbo to a non E/B engine?
Jack Spank9049 posted a topic in General Chat
Good day. I currently have a Fiesta 1.0 2014. It is one of the 1.0 models with no turbo but has the same 3 cylinder engine found in Ecoboosts. Would I be able to get the Ecoboost turbo of a breaker car for example and have it fitted to mine? I'd imagine the ECU may have to be adjusted slightly. I've attached the engine in my car (taken in dark) and a proper Ecoboost engine I found online. Main difference is the pipe being different in my engine and the metal bit at the front (part of exhaust system?) is smaller. So in a nutshell it seems you would just need to replace the intake pipe and add the turbo at the front. Though I guess it is a possibility that other engine parts, pipes and cables have been placed around where the bigger turbo would be requiring them to be moved also. Obviously if this is possible then I won't be planning it until sometime. Maybe next year when I renew insurance as I'm a new driver rn and A: I don't have the money atm and B: a mod like this would be the ones insurance would definitely want to know about. I'm paying an arm and a leg as it is for insurance right now! - Yesterday

Hiya. Yeah I do have navigation on Sync 2. Its been sent up for my cars spec. I have a Samsung, so will be using android. I did purchase a wiring adaptor for the usb, so I'm assuming I won't need it as I'll be using android. So, it's just the gps antenna that I have to get? Thanks for your reply.

Things have changed since I last had a running Ford.

My new Ford... a 2006 CMax 2 litre with issues. Looking forward to this way of getting help with those troublesome car problems. O/S/R door does not lock. Mech proved as working by connecting to drivers door wiring.. AOK. So fault lies either with the central locking control unit or the wiring to that doors lock mech. Any advice from members here with similar experiences of central door lock issues please.... -

Ecosport Timing belt, water pump and Tensioner
Eric Bloodaxe replied to Jan Barker's topic in General Ford Related Discussions
It may be automatic because of mention of the tensioner which iirc from the multitude of posts is only on balancer shaft engines, ie autos. Autos of course are the subject of the US recall and that video which is circulating widely (I've seen it on here at least 3 times) has spooked a lot of people. One of many US articles on the web: https://www.thedrive.com/news/fords-self-clogging-1-0-liter-ecoboost-engine-is-finally-getting-recalled -
Depends what your setup is. Do you already have SYNC2 with navigation? Has your screen/apim been setup to your cars spec? i.e. Do you have a rear camera, etc. You'll also need a new GPS antenna. And a new hub if you are going to use an iPhone (IOS) for CarPlay. I followed this video to fit mine:

Just looked further in to this and it seems that the LHD and RHD units are the same except for the bezel which can be removed and swapped over. -

Turbo Blanket/Pipe caught fire removed but is it safe?
surfwidow replied to surfwidow's topic in General Ford Related Discussions
Yeah there seems plenty of space around the manifold pipe air gaps etc. Again I am just a Sunday driver. Shopping etc. -
Do you have any warning lights on the instrument cluster, for example the EML ?

Turbo Blanket/Pipe caught fire removed but is it safe?
StephenFord replied to surfwidow's topic in General Ford Related Discussions
Just as an aside, the under bonnet insulation of of my GT4 was removed despite an initial concern that that exact thing would happen, paint blistering on the bonnet. Never happened, even after 5+ years of driving, and like I said, that turbo was much bigger & hotter than anything a Fiesta could throw! -

Whats the worst that can happen ??? Some poor unsuspecting person could suffer 3rd degree burns (mechanic, AA or RAC guy or your neighbor getting a jump start).🤔 OR The paint on the bonnet could bubble up and catch fire.🙄 But that's what you have insurance for, so no need need to worry 🤣 -
From experience if it bites at the top its normally on its way out..try what I explained..just remember to take note of its original setting Up on ramps is better but axle stands will do

Thank you ALL very much for your time and amazing interest. Well impressed! I'll continue the search on eBay.es from time to time. Thanks again. -
What equipment are you using to read the Ford DTC's ? Generic code readers will in 99% of cases not read the Ford specific DTC's or will give inaccurate codes.

Ecosport Timing belt, water pump and Tensioner
unofix replied to Jan Barker's topic in General Ford Related Discussions
I assume that you have the petrol 1.0 Ecoboost engine. Is your car manual or automatic ? Lots of threads on here about the engine just search "Ecoboost" or even "Ecoboom" and you will find many stories. -

Eric Bloodaxe replied to Jan Barker's topic in General Ford Related Discussions
Hi Jan, There have been a couple of Ecosport specific threads on here, but basically the petrol model shares the same "wet belt" 1.0 Ecoboost engine with the Fiesta, Focus and other related models such as the B-Max and C-Max, so the same issues apply. -

I would be inclined to keep all servicing details in a small notebook, including any details of parts replaced. At least then you have a simple record to refer to for your own peace of mind.
-
Do you already have full climate control in your car ? If yes, then it may be possible to add the climate control and heated seat icons to the Sync3 but not if you have manual air conditioning.. Below is the details for my Focus Mk4. It should be similar for your car.

Sadly, it is indeed the norm. Less than half of the Ford dealers seem to be using the online system for your service records, and as you know there are no paper books any more. You can view a copy of your Ford Owners Handbook direct on the Ford site. https://www.ford.co.uk/support/vehicle/ecosport-2018/2022/owner-manuals

Hi. If you have any issues with insurance at all for modifications then please feel free to drop me a line. Regards, Dan.

When I traded in my old Honda I had a multiplicity of paper documents to hand. However, taking possession of my 2022 plate Ford from a Ford Main dealer, I was told everything is ‘on-line’ now. Apart from my bill of sale, listing warranties I took out too, I was given no other documents, no service book, no MOT (too new for MOT), no warrantee docs, zilch. I downloaded the FordPass app and put in my VIN but the information shown is very limited, apart from identifying the car and stating when its ‘base warrantee’ expires, there is no more information. When I tick the ‘vehicle’ icon, it is blank. No service info, nothing. Is this the ‘norm’ now? I feel I am missing stuff or am I too I ‘old school’?

The USB device requires too much power sync 3
Danny cj replied to Rossco74's topic in Ford Fiesta Club
Check to see if the usb socket is damaged..sounds like it's clogged and a pin is shorted to another. If you can unplug from the back and see if the message stills apears
